The most thought-provoking quote of the Biden era was uttered months before his presidency began

“Don’t think when you have established the rule of ‘because we can,’ that should the shoe be on the other foot, you will have any credibility to come to us and say: ‘yeah, I know you can do that, but you shouldn’t" - Senator Sheldon Whitehouse said at the Amy Coney Barrett hearings

Whitehouse’s warning was specific to issues of the courts. But he was also illuminating the fundamental question at the heart of most contemporary political debates: When should you flex your power simply because you can?

The primary defect that led to the Bushleague's illegal invasion and war making was the military capacity to do so and the excessive powers of the President to so engage.

Over the years, Republicans have railed that the government has too much power at home as Democrats extended their power at home, and Democrats have railed that the US has too much power abroad as the Republicans have done their best to extend power abroad. But at the end of the day, once the Frankenstein was created by both parties, neither could tame it as it broke free to do whatever the hell it wants.

That's why today the US Federal government has a $30 trillion debt, which will explode exponentially as it throws money at every man, woman, and child on the planet, along with throwing it at every problem. They are akin to a crack addict on the side of the street ever searching for that spending high rush to solve yet another of their problems. and without any concern as to the damage it may do to the Constitution, society at large, and the Republic itself.

Now we all sit back and wait for it all to implode with no one to perform an intervention. No, the only push is for clean needles.

Our analyses are not identical, but have more in common than in opposition. The fault is clearly the duopoly, and that is because of the fault in the electorate.
