But Benghazi is different then all of the above and the unfortunate deaths under Reagan. No one is saying that it is Obama's responsibility for the detail of the on ground operations. No one is saying that Obama should have personally designed the protection for Steven's. What is being said is that he and Rice lied about the attack. When people lie they have something to hide.

In Benghazi people died and Obama lied, why? The truth would have worked just as well for him, if indeed we know the truth. So in my opinion Stevens was doing something Obama doesn't want us to know about, like running guns.

All that said, there is no comparison to any attack and Benghazi.

First of all secretary of state Hillary underestimated the danger that the Benghazi embassy was in and the magic date 9/11 that might trigger an attack. It was her job to make sure embassies were defended. What really happens when you get iconic "2 am call"? Apparently Barry was paralyzed with indecision and the greatest Military in the world never got off the ground to help the Navy Seals and keep the Ambassador safe during a battle that lasted several hours. The worst part of course is the cover-up. Barry might have gotten away with it if he didn't order his staff to circulate a lie about an obscure you tube video that nobody ever saw. The cover-up used to be worse than the crime but when the media circles the wagons things are different.

There is no Embassy in Benghazi. Stephens knew the dangers he was facing and made the decision to travel to Benghazi himself. In case you didn't know the first thing the President did when he was informed of the attack was to order his commanders to use every available DoD asset to protect American lives.

WTF is this defense? The Ambassador was not really an ambassador but a poor US employed schlep who should have known better and his boss, the secretary of state, had more important business to address than the only Mid East security in the likelyhood of a 9-11 attack? The rel issue during the impeachment hearings is whether Hussein can blame "his commanders".

I never said the Ambassador was not an Ambassador or a schlep.

Panetta was firm throughout his testimony that there were no "undue delays" in decision making and there was no denial of support from Washington or from the military combatant commanders when the attack happened.

"Quite the contrary: The safe evacuation of all U.S. government personnel from Benghazi 12 hours after the initial attack" and transfer to the Ramstein Air Base in Germany "was the result of exceptional U.S. government coordination."

In his remarks, Panetta said the initial reports of the attack were given "almost immediately" to the U.S. Embassy in the Libyan capital of Tripoli.

Within 17 minutes, Panetta said, an unarmed, unmanned surveillance aircraft was dispatched to give U.S. officials a better idea of what was happening. It arrived at the site about 70 minutes after the attack, he said.

Soon, Panetta and Dempsey met with President Barack Obama, the secretary told lawmakers. Obama ordered that the Defense Department respond to the attack with "all available DOD assets" and try to protect U.S. personnel, Panetta said.
