where did Jesus speak of Noah?
Matthew 24:37-41. Noah was righteous and therefore inherited the earth. A new creation.

When the rains came, the wicked were swept away and the righteous remained, contrary to the idea most Christians have that a new beginning means the righteous are whisked away and the wicked remain.

It is written as an actual event, albeit a supernatural one.
Creation was also an allegory, something that is simply impossible to explain because we don't understand how and can't duplicate it.

In fact, we are all walking allegories that are not really real.

You had no idea, did you?

At the end of the day we're left with...the Bible: God's word. :bow3:

Others think that there may have been a flood, but not globally.
It should be a foregone conclusion that the flood was merely regional, not global. The problem comes from interpreting a translation of the original text. If you look at the term translated "earth" (H776 'eres) in Gen 6:17 for example, you find this:

land, earth

  1. earth
    1. whole earth (as opposed to a part)
    2. earth (as opposed to heaven)
    3. earth (inhabitants)
  2. land

    1. country, territory
    2. district, region
    3. tribal territory
    4. piece of ground
    5. land of Canaan, Israel
    6. inhabitants of land
    7. Sheol, land without return, (under) world
    8. city (-state)
People think the term 'eres should be interpreted as the whole earth in this case. That's an error in my opinion.

Hebrew is a multiple-choice thing. You pick the meaning that best fits the narrative.

ok ..... all known lands then
Not even that, really. Not if it's allegory. The tribal Israelites were a wicked, idolatrous people. The righteous few among them periodically pined for a do-over, a new creation. A new merger of heaven and earth, or between the powers that be and the general assembly.

was Noah the only righteous person on earth then?

He is the only one we are told who was 'seen' as righteous by God. (Gen. 7:1) "And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation."

It doesn't mean others in Noah's family weren't seen as righteous also, but we are not told.

But there were none seen as righteous people on the earth outside of the ark.

And even if all of Noah's family were seen as righteous by God, they still carried the sin of Adam in their nature. Which would mean both people of God, and people not of God would be born by them. Just like Adam and Eve bore Cain and Abel.

I dunno. I just pinched myself and confirmed that I was indeed awake.
