I read that governments tend to be more fiscally irresponsible than the people they rule. Most people try not to have too much debt, and they usually only borrow if they think they can afford the interest payments. Governments like to borrow excessively, because the ones that have to service that debt are the people. The government itself doesn't need to repay the loan or do anything about it. Then it uses the borrowed money to buy influence to make itself more entrenched.

We owe more in interest than the combined total cost of our military and the DOD.

Eventually that house of cards is coming down and everyone is screwed left or right.

I am amazed that these idiots are defending the status quo of no budgets and endless Continuing Resolutions with debt ceiling raises, Another "budget/ shutdown" crises coming in a few weeks. Doesn't bode well for the economic future of our country.
