The COVID response was an over-reaction, you get no argument from me, and a selective one as per the floyd riots being allowed. The problem is quarantines are the only real tool when it comes to a novel untreatable new disease spreading through the population. We need better leaders who understand this.

Good point. The thing is modern society is far more congested than in the past, especially in urban areas. Mass Transit is almost the perfect medium for aerosol transmission or fomite transmission. Climate controlled, high person density, mingling spread populations together and then dispersing them again.

This was the first time a nationwide or at least Statewide quarantine was tried, and the results are mixed at best.

Turns out the best course was probably to let young healthy people out and about, let them get it, attenuate it, and build immunity while the people with co-morbidities isolated the best they could.

Agreed, but I don't think the tyrants calling for society to lock down was done with such benevolent concerns.

Actually they got what they wanted out of it. Trump lost in 2020 (if he actually lost or not is a topic for another thread). I don't think they went into the pandemic thinking of this, but by summer they were probably realizing they had the opportunity along with the Floyd riots.

The sad thing for them is they got a far more Trumpy version of Trump in 2024 than they would have gotten if he had won in 2020.

Things are drastically different today. Trump is POTUS. You can expect the ENTIRE left to oppose anything and everything that happens during this term, including lockdowns and forced vaccines for COVID or other reasons.
