Hell, the gop fought tooth & nail to stop him so place the blame for our terrible choices squarely where it belongs....on the voters.

The Dems had the same problem. They had a chance to nominate Webb and the voters gave him the finger.

As a result of our own collective stupidity we will be left with the two most hated individuals to choose from.

they could change the rules, but I doubt they will.
 
The GOP aligned itself with the left about 10 years ago. The Republican people are rejecting them now. Trump just happened to be in the right place at the right time and has the willingness to act in America's best interests instead of lining the pockets of big business donors. If closing the border is the only thing he ever accomplishes we will be better off than we would be under any of the other candidates.
