The Fight for 15 dollars an hour...the computer that just took my order is laughing at you......

What abuses of workers in Jesus land? They have pick up trucks, bass boats, ATVs and guns making $7.25 an hour

No teeth, serious inbreeding, crushing levels of poverty.

The South would be a third world country if it wasn't attached to the United States.
Uhm south Carolina is becoming a manufacturing powerhouse

So once again$50 dollar an hour minimum wage blue states

$7.25 an hour minimum wage redstates!

Are you suggesting that the U.S. Congress should modify our nation’s federal policy and regulate all employee compensation and all prices in the USA?

No, I'm not.

I'm saying that when businesses have to pay their employees more, they'll pass that extra expense on to the consumer. Everyone's going to be affected. For instance, a couch that costs $1,000 today might very well cost $1,600 five or six years from now.

If you can't afford it now, getting $15 an hour isn't going to magically mean you can. Prices will be adjusted so that businesses feel a minimal impact on their bottom line...

It's amazing. You attack literally millions on millions of people, insult all of them, claim that without you, they would be a 3rd world country.

yes, I know stating facts hurts. Hey, check out this POVERTY map

You see a pattern here?

Then decry Republicans not unifying under Biden. Gee I wonder why.... can't be the same reasons we hated Hillary and her 'deploreables' comment.

you mean the comment you STILL don't understand? She stated that most of Trump's supporters weren't deplorable, they were people the economy had left behind. The "Deplorables" were a minority, who could fit in a "basket".

Stupid left-wingers. At least if you insult me, I've given you a reason. But you insult absolutely everyone everywhere, and then have these laughable attempts to claim you are a unifying party.

lol :) Such dumb stupid left-wingers. You people never figure out why every country you are in charge of, turns to crap. Look at yourself in the mirror for once, and see why we're all better than you. Because that's the truth. We are just all flat out better people than you could ever hope to be.

Uh, guy, most of western Europe is run by "leftists" (Even the conservative parties of Europe would be considered liberal by American Standards) and they have far less problems than we have.

They don't have the crime or the racism or the poverty we have.

Just went through McDonald's drive thru.......a computer took my order........

The Fight for 15 just forced even more people out of work.......good job democrats....

But serfs just need to vote every 2 years........they don't need jobs.
Universal basic income.

It's coming.

Blame corporate greed.

Blame corporate greed?

Universal basic income, will dramatically drive up taxes on the public, and destroy the economy at the same time.

What are you blaming on corporate greed again?

I've never understood this concept that you take a grenade, pull the pin, drop it to the ground... then lay on it.... and scream at everyone "BLAME CORPORATE GREED" and then you blow yourself up.

How is you.... destroying you.... to be blamed on corporate greed?

They didn't make you buy a grenade, pull the pin, and then jump on it waiting to die.

You did that. Don't blame others for your own incompetence.
Large corporations cooperate to keep wages artificially low.

It's not that hard.

If you are a Billion Dollar Corporation, the people who DO THE ACTUAL WORK should get more of the money than the investors and the executives.

And I'm sure you believe in your opinion.

But people who perform a low-skill task should not make more than the CEO. That's ludicrous and stupid...

Businesses are getting away with paying less than a living wage in part due to the government programs you conservative types claim to hate.

Nobody is saying they should. However, when the ceo makes 3,000 times what the average employee does, especially when said employee needs government assistance just to get enough to eat, there's a problem.

No one said they should.

They should make a living wage.

The CEO should make a decent wage... not eight figures.

.

According to a McDonald's proxy statement released on Thursday, the CEO's total compensation in 2019 was $18,012,549. According to the company's calculations, that was 1,939 times what the median worker made in the same year.

In November, Steve Easterbrook abruptly departed as McDonald's CEO after an internal investigation into his romantic relationship with a coworker. Easterbrook was replaced by Chris Kempczinski, the current CEO.

No one said they should.

So, are you denying that you made this statement, or are you lying?

If you are a Billion Dollar Corporation, the people who DO THE ACTUAL WORK should get more of the money than the investors and the executives.

You actually said that, and now you're denying it...

They should make a living wage.

And if prices on consumer goods would remain static, $15 an hour would be a living wage. But that won't happen. Prices on consumer goods will increase commensurate with the minimum wage.

Again, the idea that "minimum wage" should be synonymous with "living wage" is stupid...

The CEO should make a decent wage... not eight figures.

Again, merely your opinion.

McDonald's, as a company, is worth right around $160 billion dollars. I certainly don't have a problem with the guy running that kind of show making $18 million a year...

Actually, Joe said exactly that.

The problem I see is that the minimum wage worker expects to provide for a family on $8.46 an hour (that's minimum wage here in Florida). That's ridiculous. If you're going to have a family, you'd damn well better be able to support them on the wages that are actually available, and not what you want them to be.

Minimum wage jobs are perfect for high school kids and seniors who want a few extra bucks for the casino. No one else should be working a minimum wage job...

Actually, again- it should be a living wage. There are already carve outs for small businesses that hire teens, this isn't an issue.

Also, the whole issue of inflation is a moot one. You guys have been singing that song since the 1980's, and it never happens.

Labor is actually a very small part of any equation.

Actually, Joe said exactly that.
That's a lie.

As soon as you admit/correct it I'll continue the discussion.

I can only comment on what he said, and he absolutely made this statement:

If you are a Billion Dollar Corporation, the people who DO THE ACTUAL WORK should get more of the money than the investors and the executives

Unless you believe that the annual wages of in-store workers around the globe adds up to less than $18 million a year, the ones who are doing the actual work already are getting more than the CEO.

There's some 22 year old running the deep fryer at McDonald's in Des Moines for $9 an hour. That's his only responsibility. The CEO, on the other hand, has a responsibility which greatly eclipses that of the french fry guy. If the french fry guy fails to uphold his responsibility, you don't get fries. If the CEO fails to uphold his responsibilities, you're goin' to Wendy's...

You are deliberately misinterpreting that.

Really?

Please give the link in your addled head to corporate profits that require free government money....

How, exactly, should it have been represented, and why didn't Joe represent it that way?

There's no ambiguity in his comment. None. Zero, Squat. Nada.

He said what he said and he's to big a fucking coward to take ownership of it...

I think this is where you are confused... the guy who gets $9.00 an hour for the fries has more effect on my meal than the guy who got $18,000,000 and got fired for playing Hide the Sausage with his secretary.

So maybe the Fry Cook gets Living Wage and Mr. Hide the Sausage gets $500,000. That seems more fair.
