For me to know and you not to find out.
Before 1987 when the FCC rightly quashed the so-called "Fairness" Doctrine, the Left had a literal monopoly on the media. No Conservative voices prevailed before then. And any so-called Conservative POV that was presented by the Lamestream Press was given a mere :10 seconds of time compared to the half hour to hour of far Left Bile that passed off as "news.

I'm not completely understanding what happened. It would seem to me that the country was far more conservative in 1949. We had just emerged from WW2, and leftism barely existed. The country was however, being under siege by communist propaganda and if anything, the Fairness Doctrine would have aided the communist Russians and Chinese in their goal of influencing this country. I have no doubts that it was our own openness that caused the left to rise in the late 50's and throughout the 1960's. The political upheaval of the 60's was not a "grass-roots" movement. It was being directed and instigated by communists, operating in Russia and China. In other words, our own FCC laws allowed them to spread communist propaganda in this country, under the guise of "fairness."

The left, under the banner of fairness and the concept that a person should not be fired for their politics, instituted 'tenure' in our schools and then used that policy to ostracize conservative thought by denying teachers this tenure and firing people for their politics.

When you control what the gatekeepers learn, you control the gatekeepers to society.

Discrimination against political affiliation is only illegal for employees of the federal government, as per the Civil Service Reform Act of 1978. The left utilizes that fact to harass and discriminate against conservatives, but that can work both ways. So it's not a crime to hate someone based on their left-wing political affiliation.

Civil Rights Act of 1960

and the

Voting Rights Act of 1965

American conservatives typically support what they consider Christian values,[4] moral absolutism,[5] traditional family values,[6] and American exceptionalism,[7] while opposing abortion, euthanasia, and same-sex marriage.[8] It favours economic individualism,[9][10] and is generally pro-business and pro-capitalism,[11] while supporting anti-communism and opposing labor unions.[12][13][14] It often advocates a strong national defense, gun rights, free trade,[15] and a defense of Western culture from perceived threats posed by both communism[16] and moral relativism.[17] Since the late 1990s, conservatives in the United States are substantially more likely than moderates and liberals to question science, specifically epidemiology, climate science, and evolution, and to believe in creationism.[18][19][20]

Its been going on a long time. Taking our democracy away!!

LOL!! Wrong again. Not just wrong, but stupid.
1. What's wrong with American conservatism? Look at the Reagan, Bush, and Trump presidencies.
2. You need to look at socialism and their failures, like Cuba and Venezuela for comparison.
3. Creationism is NOT a conservative belief, that may be believed by a few religious sects, but not many. (google creationism)
4. Climate science is debatable, the global temp is going down, so "global warming" is now "climate change"
5. Show how democracy is affected in any way, you can't that is a LIE.
6. Then look at Biden's "Minister of Truth", That was a danger to the free press and democracy.

Those have nothing to do with that fact that I can call anyone a "fucking idiot" for being a Democrat, no matter what race, national origin, or sexual preference they are. And there's not a thing you can do about it.

Michael Powell (Colin's kid) FCC tenure deregulated media, the Zuck privatized it, and so we've what is often called 'fake news' now.

Which is really not as accurate as>>>

Bias, Political stripe, and Agenda

The democrats want it back so bad, now after Musk took over Twitter

With the focus on the Leftist bias the propaganda arm of the Democrat party being exposed for all to see, does anyone really think by reinstating the so-called "fairness" Doctrine would really be a great idea? Here's food for thought. During that era, you heard nary a peep from Conservatives. All because we never had our voices heard.
