Today, on instant que Netflix I watched the 2007 movie "The Devil Came on Horseback" about former Marine Corps Captain Brian Steidle's assignment as an unarmed observer for the African Union to document violations of the ceasefire in Darfur. What he witnessed was the systematic genocide of African Sudanese by Arab Sudanese and no one was interested in stopping the carnage.
It's quite a moving documentary of tragedy beyond belief for many Americans.
It also begs the question, how far should we be willing to go to help people even if it means going to war with their oppressors?
