Graham Platner is a running as a Democrat for the U.S. Senate in Maine against Republican incumbent Susan Collins. He's recently been dogged with revelations of incredibly offensive Reddit posts he's made over the years, some more recent. His comments include calling rural people dumb and racist, anti-police rhetoric, and blaming rape victims and military veterans suffering from PTSD as putting themselves in those situations in the first place. He's also proclaimed himself a Communist and drug user.
One would expect he'd have been immediately disavowed by the Democratic Party, but instead, they've mainly gone on an apology tour for him because he made a four minute video claiming he's changed and those views no longer represent him. We know, of course, were he a Republican the knives would be out and no amount of contrition would ever be acceptable. Now, to make matters worse, it's been discovered he has a tattoo on his chest widely associated with NAZI sympathizers. Congressman Ro Khanna is still defending him and is blaming the Democratic Party on this opposition research dump to clear the path for Maine Governor Janet Mills instead.
Really now? Problem?
