Back in October 2025 - Maine Senate candidate Platner says tattoo recognized as Nazi symbol has been covered.

They didn't show the tattoo, so it wasn't of Nazi origin..............they just wanted to scream NAZI at somebody that told them "no".

In his own defense, the guy himself said that "The first-time political candidate said he got the skull and crossbones tattoo in 2007, when he was in his 20s and in the Marine Corps. It happened during a night of drinking while he was on leave in Croatia, he said, adding he was unaware until recently that the image has been associated with Nazi police."

Benefit of the doubt? He served his nation well. Where are the people who would back up that somehow he had or spouted pro-Nazi views?

It's amusing to see the people who actually---well you know.

no refutation?

Uhm, o'tay

People get all kinds of tattoos without researching what if anything a tat symbolizes.

We judge people by their actions and words -- like the words of the out-and-out racists that have come over to usmb from shitty sites.

I posted factual statements from Republicans on race that were and are considered outrageous.
Tattoos can be questioned for many people. It is his actions though that are not.

The symbol predates the Nazis.

Wow!

"Platner said he had never been questioned about the tattoo's connections to Nazi symbols in the 20 years he has had it. He said it was there when he enlisted in the Army, which requires an examination for tattoos of hate symbols."

again, wow.
See? You're about as dumb as a dead lab rat. Why?

It's amazing that, in the name of power, what ideologues are willing to look over. People on the left called the tattoo of Pete Hegseth a symbol of white nationalism and reason why he shouldn't be appointed as the SECDEF (or is it SECWAR now). Didn't Hegseth also serve his nation well? Never mind that the same Jerusalem Cross symbol is on the altar at the National Cathedral in DC. Now, we have someone running for Senate that had not only an actual Nazi symbol as a tattoo, but a symbol that was worn by guards at the concentration camps. It's also amazing how for Platner, democrats are so willing to allow & accept grace, growth & change for him, but anything that happened in the past life of a republican is proof that that's what they were then and they haven't changed at all. Now, to be fair, republicans aren't beyond doing the same type of thing toward candidates.

Those two statements state that he was at one time enlisted in the Army and the Marine Corps separately during Platner's adulthood since you can't be enlisted in both branches of the military at the same time. There's nothing worse than trying to insult other people for not knowing what they're talking about and not knowing what you're talking about at the same time.

Maine Senate candidate Platner says tattoo recognized as Nazi symbol has been covered

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — His U.S. Senate campaign under fire, Maine Democrat Graham Platner said Wednesday that a tattoo on his chest has been covered to no longer reflect an image widely recognized as a Nazi symbol.

The first-time political candidate said he got the skull and crossbones tattoo in 2007, when he was in his 20s and in the Marine Corps. It happened during a night of drinking while he was on leave in Croatia, he said, adding he was unaware until recently that the image has been associated with Nazi police.

Platner, in an Associated Press interview, said that while his campaign initially said he would remove the tattoo, he chose to cover it up with another tattoo due to the limited options where he lives in rural Maine.

"Going to a tattoo removal place is going to take a while," he said. "I wanted this thing off my body."

...

Platner said he had never been questioned about the tattoo's connections to Nazi symbols in the 20 years he has had it. He said it was there when he enlisted in the Army, which requires an examination for tattoos of hate symbols.

"I also passed a full background check to receive a security clearance to join the Ambassador to Afghanistan's security detail," Platner said.

...

Platner said he was not ashamed to confront his past comments and actions because it reflects the lessons he needed to take to get where he is today.

"I don't look at this as a liability," he told the AP. "I look at this as is a life that I have lived, a journey that has been difficult, that has been full of struggle, that has also gotten me to where I am today. And I'm very proud of who I am."
