Socialism, the formal incarnation, is a fairly elaborate product of European intellectual efforts. As such, it is over-thought and poorly based upon human psychology as history has manifested it. Certain contributions to modern life have emerged from this movement, as one might expect. It is an error, nonetheless, to call these integrated aspects "socialism". Most of the nations that identify as Socialist, and especially those we project the term upon, are not entirely such. They remain a blend of various, often somewhat contradictory, facets of various approaches to government and society. "Capitalism" plays a major part, despite the fact that, while it ends in "ism", it is nothing like religions, philosophies or social political movements with the same suffix. It is something that has grown "organically" over time as an economic approach with many positive and negative outcomes. It is neither friend nor foe, but, a bit like "A. I.", a tool we can use for or against ourselves. Surely, some people have amassed philosophical observations around capitalism, but that is an illusion. The fact that is has produced more collective benefit to where our race has arrived at this moment is fine when we remember that there have been infinite tweaks and adjustments to it, many derived from Socialism. That said, stiving for "Socialism" is assuredly not the best solution.
