This thought just hit me like a ton of bricks this morning. California, over the last few decades, has done numerous things and spent billions and billions of dollars fighting Climate Change in order to be a responsible state, one reason being to reduce the risk of future wildfires which they are prone to. Meanwhile, they haven't spent much of anything on forrest management, fire equipment, or fire personnel in the here and now. So, there has been an increase in forest fires burning down the state as they spend most of their time trying to stop mother nature from getting us in the future. They haven't been able to figure out that they should be trying to stop wildfires NOW instead of saving the planet 25-50 years from now so there will be fewer wild fires in the future. By then there won't be anything left of California.

Where's your link to prove your opening statement, Asshole????

California has spent BILLIONS in the past few years on fire fighting equipment.

Forest management isn't the problem. Climate change is the problem. A federal government and states' governments which deny the problem. Many of these fires are stated by the aging electrical infrastructure in California - all of which is PRIVATELY owned.

Instead of blaming Democrats for everything that happens, how about telling us what TRUMP is going to about the problem, now that he's in charge. He did NOTHING the last time he was in office but blame Democrats and withhold funding.

Are you going to be blaming Republicans for the mess next year when the same thing happens and the federal government refuses to help????

California has been spending money on fighting the Climate instead of using that money to save their state from wildfires now. I never said they weren't spending any money on fire management, etc., just that they could have been directing more money to it instead of throwing it down the drain fighting Climate Change.

Right-wingers don't think. They just repeat.

What Newsom should have done are things like:

1. Build the reservoirs that the Feds gave him money for. He should be prosecuted for this one.
2. Rebuild the 4 dams he demolished. He should be prosecuted for this one too.
3. Revise the stupid insurance Laws CA has that caused insurance companies to cancel policies
4. Bulldoze the tops of the mountain ridges as fire-breaks and to allow maintenance & fire truck access
5. Use tanker trucks to spray salt water down the mountains to kill underbrush and vegetation.
6. Allow CHUBB to offer high-end insurance coverage, including spraying fire-resistant foam on covered homes
7. Ensure that there are adequate fire breaks between homes and brush/trees.
8. Use modern forest management methods to reduce fire potential, similar to Finland.

The words 'democrat' and 'logic' should never be used together.

Or even in the same paragraph... Or on the same day. Ever.

dimocraps are scum. Approach everything they say and do with that FACT in mind and it all starts to make sense. Trying to think of them as logical, thinking, well-meaning individuals is a waste of time.

They are not any of those things.

1. The money for the reservoirs was given to California in 2023 and 2024 by the Biden Administration and five reservoirs are under construction in the Western states as a result. What did Trump do about building reservoirs when he was in office??? Answer: Bitch at Gavin Newsome.

2. The dam removals had NO IMPACT on the supply of water in California. Not that you would bother looking that up. All of the dams were on the Klamath River, and were built to provide hydro-electric power - nothing to do with supplying water to California.

"The Klamath River, once the third-largest salmon-producing river on the West Coast, has faced drastic declines in fish populations since the construction of hydroelectric dams began in 1918. The river’s blocked flow reduced water quality, increased temperatures, and made it nearly impossible for salmon and steelhead to complete their life cycles.

This represents a major victory for the Klamath Basin tribes, the States of California and Oregon, and numerous environmental and fishing groups."

3. Insurance companies have no obligation to issue policies where it's impossible to protect structures from wild fires. Insurance companies are in business to make money, not lose it. You have ZERO understanding of how free market capitalism works.

They're pulling out of Florida for the same reason. The ONLY way for homeowners in high risk areas to have fire or flood insurance is for the state or federal government to insure them. Private companies have an obligation to their shareholders not to insure high risk properties, because these companies exist solely to make money for their owners.

Americans insist on building housing in areas known for hurricanes and wild fires. They build on properties below sea level, and then think that insurance companies should be required to insure their foolish choices. And yet you oppose socialism.

4. How do you propose on getting the bulldozers to the top of the mountain ridges, and along the narrow ledges. You have to mentally unhinged to believe this possible.

5. Ditto the tanker trucks. These are INACCESSIBLE AREAS.

None of the rest of your bullshit is even REMOTELY possible.

This is what happens when you spend billions on high speed rail....and have no high speed rail

Money should have spent elsewhere

Yes, California spent $500 billion or more fighting climate change.

California's 10,000 miles and more of electricity transmission lines connecting green energy to where it is needed resulted in dozens upon dozens of people burning to death.

Building electricity power plants next the cities would of saved more than a trillion dollars and over a 100 lives.
