Quite a bit has been made by the board's conservatives about the Dem party's dismal polling numbers of late. They are frequently cited in response to it being pointed out trump's approval rating has sunken to new lows.
Why do I refer to this phenomenon as creating cognitive dissonance? Here's why.

Most U.S. adults think abortion should be legal 3 years after Roe was overturned, poll shows

A Majority of Americans See Climate Change as a Serious Problem Today

Majorities Still Back Stricter Gun Laws, Assault Weapons Ban

More Americans favor pathway to legal status for most migrants in US

Medicaid keeps getting more popular as Republicans aim to cut it by $800 billion

Weird, right? The Dem party is not popular but the policy positions it stands for are.
So I'm going to posit a theory to explain it. Basically, it comes down to this.

Democrats fume over weak early response to Trump

Democrats are fuming about their party leadership’s early response to President Trump.

Strategists say the reaction to Trump is inconsistent and not aggressive enough to combat Trump, who has taken a series of actions to remake the government.

More specifically, I think one aspect of the poor polling Dem's get is out of frustration with the party's inability to get legislation passed that the majority favors. Roe was just repealed, gun control legislation has repeatedly been blocked by Repubs, trump is in the process of reversing Biden's laudable efforts with respect to climate change, Medicaid funding has been slashed.

It's hard to be enthusiastic about an ineffectual party that can't deliver on what the majority wants.

Thoughts?

Most Americans support the death penalty.

We know polls are invalid and the only poll that matters is the election. Democrats got slaughtered in the last election and will very likely lost the midterms and the next election.

How proud you must be.
You asked for thoughts.

Here's another one.
Most Americans have lost their minds.

Regarding those polls. People lie. Like families that plead for leniency for a criminal son, secretly hoping he will never get out of prison.

If the majority of Americans think climate change is a serious issue, why don't they change their lifestyles to reflect that? Let me answer that for you. People want change but they want someone else to change, not themselves.

America overwhelmingly rejected your Cult in November.

How proud you must be.
Gary Heidrick sexually abused teens locked them in his basement and forced them to eat each other after he murdered them. He was executed do you think that was wrong

is abortion not still legal in all states?

So, seems like a good move. The stupid ruling is overturned, and now states can have the specific restrictions that their citizens want, state by state.

California can kill babies that still have their foot in the mother, while Kansas and be a bit more... humane.

Do you doubt that if Repubs had their way it wouldn't be?

But that isn't the issue nor what the thread is about. DO YOU FOLKS EVER JUST RESPOND TO THE SUBJECT OF THREADS???? Does it always have to go down the road of deflection?

People are still pissed at the dems over covid shutdowns, inflation, the false promises about student loans (beyond just the stuff litigated) and then the disastrous way the election went down. The dems got Trump elected.

If that silliness was remotely true and Democrats still can't win on the issues they are either liars or completely incompetent, most likely both.

Your DNC controls your party with an iron fist and you all just bow down and support them. You're the idiot.

When was the last time you had a real nomination process not controlled and manipulated by the DNC?

No homocides in DC in a week.

Condolences lefties.

Someone will surely be murdered soon.

Do not get depressed.

No doubt Biden got falsely blamed for inflation since he was in the chair when it hit.
Issues surrounding COVID got studiply politicized on both sides. The idea of vaccine mandates, which are required of school children to attend public schools, being a denial of liberty is ludicrous.

But this discussion is about policy positions the majority of Americans hold that align with Democrats which most conservative board members seem to be in denial about.

There are reasonable counterpoints to the points you made. For example, we wouldn't need to spend as much on Medicaid if people would take better care of their health.

There is little excuse for an unwanted pregnancy. Women should know their fertility cycle.

People talk a good show but few really give a shit about the environment. And all the experts can come up with are fantasy solutions.

Regarding immigrant citizenship, most people favor it within limits.
