The cognitive dissonance of the public's opinion towards Dem's.

Quite a bit has been made by the board's conservatives about the Dem party's dismal polling numbers of late. They are frequently cited in response to it being pointed out trump's approval rating has sunken to new lows.
Why do I refer to this phenomenon as creating cognitive dissonance? Here's why.

Most U.S. adults think abortion should be legal 3 years after Roe was overturned, poll shows

A Majority of Americans See Climate Change as a Serious Problem Today

Majorities Still Back Stricter Gun Laws, Assault Weapons Ban

More Americans favor pathway to legal status for most migrants in US

Medicaid keeps getting more popular as Republicans aim to cut it by $800 billion

Weird, right? The Dem party is not popular but the policy positions it stands for are.
So I'm going to posit a theory to explain it. Basically, it comes down to this.

Democrats fume over weak early response to Trump

Democrats are fuming about their party leadership’s early response to President Trump.

Strategists say the reaction to Trump is inconsistent and not aggressive enough to combat Trump, who has taken a series of actions to remake the government.

More specifically, I think one aspect of the poor polling Dem's get is out of frustration with the party's inability to get legislation passed that the majority favors. Roe was just repealed, gun control legislation has repeatedly been blocked by Repubs, trump is in the process of reversing Biden's laudable efforts with respect to climate change, Medicaid funding has been slashed.

It's hard to be enthusiastic about an ineffectual party that can't deliver on what the majority wants.

Thoughts?

Great strategy; call people who don't support your awful takes on the issues stupid. That ought to win them over!

Your DNC controls your party with an iron fist and you all just bow down and support them. You're the idiot.

When was the last time you had a real nomination process not controlled and manipulated by the DNC?
David Hogg and the party leaders rejected him. Talk about democracy.

This follows a pattern of steadfastly refusing to accept anything challenging your preconceived notions.
I disagree, many polls are slanted by the way questions are given. The polls before the election had Trump losing both the electoral college and the popular.

I believe polls can be helpful but are not the definitive decider. The way a polled asks the question can on its own persuade the person.

You also have issues with people challenging your preconceived notions, it is in our human behavior, look at Harris, she still believed Biden was cognitive in her interviews leading up to the election and even after the election, most of America believe otherwise. Her preconceived notion couldn’t be change in spite of the evidence.

Well said. The Dems haven't had a fair election within their own party since at least 2008. Everything since then has been the party crowning kings.

Exactly and the democrat leaders know their party members will roll over and accept whatever they're told, no matter how obviously ridiculous as 2024 was.

It's my own hypothesis that democrats lack much of a bench for presidential nominees because they've culled them all out.

Most people view Democrats as incompetent.

Take climate change for instance.

While people may agree it's an issue, the Democrats are associated with things like Solyndra and the Paris accords.

Whereas everyone knows the China and India are the culprits, and the Democrats have done zero (less than zero) about that.

And the science says solar panels are far more dangerous than gasoline, and Democrats refuse to acknowledge this simple fact.

Electric cars do NOTHING to address climate change. Everyone knows it. Even Democrats. Instead of developing new ways to recycle used lithium, the Democrats want us to keep buying stuff that's dangerous to our children and the planet.

The Democrats have NO SUBSTANCE. They're about Hollywood. Cosmetics. Dog and pony shoes. Like that idiotic J6 committee, which everyone EVEN DEMOCRATS acknowledged was a complete waste of taxpayer money.

Democrats want to spend our tax money and give us frivolous Hollywood "solutions" in return.

Democrats are perceived as incompetent. They don't know what the People want. As their reliance on contrived polling clearly shows.
