Let's go over the sequence of events...
The Browns, up 30-28, are driving into Chargers territory with less than 2 min left in the game. All game, Chubb has been CARVING up the Chargers defense all game.
Brisett drops back to pass on the Chargers 20-30ish, the play breaks down, Brissett runs to the R, has a clear 1st down on a 3rd and 7-8, but instead opts to try to laser a pass into the back of the end zone that gets intercepted.
The Chargers run plays against the Browns D, but with the Browns timeouts the Chargers are forced into a 4th and 2 in chargers territory... LAC goes for it and doesn't get it. The Browns are back in business on approx the 50 yd line.
Brisset hits a WR over the middle for gain that would give the Cleveland FG kicker York a 54 yd field goal.
The Browns run a bunch of plays that don't much advance the ball.
York comes out for a 54 yd field goal and misses it. Game over.
I've given Brissett a pass in the NYJ game completely for his late INT, and partially blamed him for the late INT in the Falcons game, but I completely blame Brissett for his INT in this game. The guy has had 3 INT's all year, and all 3 are 2 minutes or less in games we lost. However, with how obvious he could have gained a first down or at least kept the ball for a FG to gain the lead.. he chose to try to thread a ball into the back of the endzone, on a rollout ensuring nearly the entire LAC defense would be on his side of the field... is just inexcusable. Brissett cost us this game.
We've lost 3 games by a total of 8 points.
