Zone1 The Book of Enoch...How should Christians think about it, and why does it matter?

There is the view that the entire Book of Enoch is pseudepigrapha, in other words not actually written by Enoch, and therefore not trustworthy.
Why would that be an issue? Isnt the entire NT hearsay?
 
Regarding the sun and plants, the sun was there from the beginning, perhaps billions of years ago. Genesis describes the latest renewal of the earth's surface, not the original creation of verse one. (See Gap Theory.)

That 'crazy shit' is literal. The translators often used traditional beliefs when translating the Hebrew texts.
 
I didn't make it up. It is generally rejected because it upsets the YEC's (young earth creationists). However, it reconciles the apparent age of the earth with the Genesis narrative.
