the biggest problem with public schools is

Our kids perform poorly because of distractions, boredom, and a sense of entitlement. None are seriously addressed by the education system (AFAIK). Then there are kids that just don't belong in school at all.

Worse is that teachers don't reveal the secret of learning to their students.
AFAIK - There is your problem. Like most people you are uneducated regarding education. It's not your fault. Everyone frames education in their own experience which most of the time is atypical.

What are you going to do with kids who don't belong in school? Lock them up? Let them run wild in the streets and then lock them up?

What is the secret of learning? I would like to know because there are some students out there without that ability. Perhaps you could clue us in since you are all knowing? The psychology of learning has failed to produce a fix-all.

National figures would be more objective.
National figures show we are being dominated by poor results in blue dominated cities and states. Politics is the root of all evil.

The real key is in the students themselves. Poor students make poor students, whether they are in NY, Boston, Appalachia, or Mississippi. Race really doesn't impact as much as poverty.

In my very large school district in Florida, the school rankings by the test could be put in a top to bottom list. Another list could be made of the parent's average income by each school top to bottom. The lists would be almost identical.

My school had gated communities filled with NFL players, plus housing projects and Section 8 housing. Guess where we would be in that list? Right in the middle, although we were the largest school in the northeastern part of the state. All of our "smart kids" attended magnet schools and were not counted in our data.

The system is rigged by local and state politicians so that only a few win at the game.

That's the problem with evolution/evolutionists, they have too much time on their hands. As soon as science realized that the earth is ancient (which seems to debunk the six-day creation belief) they tossed out the notion of special creation with it, against all evidence for it.
How long was a day 4 billion years ago? I wasn't there.

It's like the global warming cultists that can tell me what the temperature was on a spring day in Tennessee 500 years ago but can't tell me if it is going to rain today. We just don't know.

BS. Some Americans voted a convicted felon for presiidency. The people who did that are the problem, not the public schools.

This is a well-known problem. The total lack of respect, The refusal to put down the cell phones, physical threatening of teachers and even the death of some teachers. Students in places like Korea would either be jailed or executed for fraction of this behavior.

DEI is a stalinist political poison that destroys everything it touches.

The black population of this country is about to flourish and find its own golden age the moment it drops the shackles of progressive plantationism. It's happening as you watch.

Nothing has changed since I was in school. Kids are taught in "batches" instead of as individuals.

Special schools or trade schools.

You tell me what accounts for so many poor performing kids in 2025. It can't be the difficulty of the subject matter because most subjects aren't terribly difficult. Is there something in the water?

Education has changed immensely since I was in school. You must be very young.

We already have those. Hasn't solved the problem. There are discipline problems just as much there too.

Society is provided chicken shit children to schools for us to make chicken salad. Can't be done. Reform the basic family unit and you might have workable solution. Education is the result of the problem and not the problem itself.

Agreed. The foundation of education should be built at home. If not, the school system has to build it into the student before formal education can begin. This requires mentoring, tutoring, and even 'parenting'.

the public school students are out of control. the American students have no discipline. the difference between the American students and the Korean students is night and day.
And the blame for belongs with the teachers unions and the ACLU along with liberal educators in every corner of the public school monopoly

American public schools suck, American urban public school suck the most, Rural schools not so much.
Teachers are generally under paid, and the unions protect poor teachers, as they can never be fired unless sex is involved.
It is like working in a factory everybody gets the same pay based on seniority not performance.

Teachers in Asian countries are a respected member of the community in America they are just another working slug.

Lol. You’re a one trick pony, and the trick is “stupidity”.

The education system has yet to acknowledge the uniqueness of America regarding education. Americans are not the tidy, organized folk as are Europeans and Asians.

That's not a teacher's job. They are not empowered to do any of that by laws and regulations. Maybe we should hire babysitters.

That is an urban legend. You can fire them, it just takes a good administrator with their ducks in a row. I know. I fired two teachers when I was an AP for two years for poor performance, and I only had 16. No crime involved.

They could empower themselves. That's what I do. I refashion every job I have ever had in order to improve it. My boss recently quipped that I am the 'flywheel' of the company keeping everything orderly and on course.

The worst thing that ever happened to America is the communistic 'division of labor'. Sadly, it seems to have affected teaching as well. Perhaps returning to the 'one room schoolhouse' is the answer.

Now you have gone from dumb to hilarious! I have never seen anyone so clueless about topics they love to spout off about! You are just dumb, really fucking dumb!

That begs the question to be asked of you. What would you do to improve education? Maybe there's some common ground.

The idea of personal responsibility has been eroded away from our society. We used to let people who overdosed just go ahead and die. Now, we have NARCAN so they can do it multiple times!

Education will not improve until kids are given a fair shot by being raised by parents and not their grandmas, brothers and sisters.
