You're correct. Evolution is a theory, one that is accepted by scientific consensus. It explains a great deal that occurs in nature. It doesn't prove that man descended from apes. It does show that human beings have evolved over time.

Creationism is a story, a biblical one. It shouldn't be taught in a science class because it is religious.
