I know the reference.

My point concerns the later Christian belief that Jesus was God and part of a Truine deity.

If this figure was indeed divine and sent on a divine mission why was he crying out in despair?

If, as later Christians would go on to believe, that he was part of the Godhead that figure had full knowledge of what was taking place and why. That raises all sorts of questions about what died on the cross? Did God feel pain? Did God suffer? Can God be killed? And if God did not suffer what was the point of the crucifixion?

Evidently the author of Matthew did not see this figure in the same way as would later Christians.
