'Oppressed', 'discriminated against', 'moved to the unemployment queue', 'low standard' housing or homelessness....certainly.
No job, no income.
No income, no money to pay a mortgage/rent or buy food
"Daddy, are we poor now"? (a young child in a movie whose movie dad lost his good job and couldn't find another.).
First went the nice home, then the car, then the nice clothes, the son's college fund, all the cell phones.
Into a motel they went, then out when they finally ran out of money.
In the movie, as luck had it, an elderly man they had helped said that he had plenty of room at his house and they could stay there.
Doesn't always happen like that, as the soaring number of homeless people in the West shows.
