the America Party founded by Musk

what do you think of the newly founded America Party?

No, it's about the # of States. Each State only has one vote in an Article V convention, no matter how many delegates they send.

And while 2/3 of the States can propose an amendment in said convention, it still requires 3/4 of the State legislatures to approve it before it is an official amendment.
In that case, not a single amendment will pass, so it would be an utter waste of time.

I still want to see it. Everyone complains the system is broken at the federal level, well here is the main way to avoid the federal level to try and fix things.

It would take leadership that sought to unite the country, instead of preying on division. Imagine that!

Here's the thing.

Not enough people vote in the primaries. They let the extremists who have more energy pick the nominees so that we are presented with two evils to choose from.

Trump only received about 30 percent of the primary votes in 2016. He was fortunate that 18 other egomaniacs split the remaining 70 percent amongst themselves instead of the lesser idiots bowing out to give the more viable candidates a chance to defeat Trump.

And here's another thing.

Despite Congress having approval ratings in the 20s, we have re-elected 80 percent of the Senate and 98 PERCENT of the House since the 1970s.

"Those other congress critters spend too much on PORK, but my guy brings home the BACON."

But the biggest problem is we have given the federal officials way too much power. And that power brings a ****-ton of money from special interests who purchase that power by filling the incumbents' war chests.

No challenger can compete against an incumbent who is a fully owned and operated puppet of special interests.

The most needed solution to this is to take away the power of our federal officials, and the very first thing that needs to go is the power to put deductions, credits, and exemptions in the tax code.

Finally, we never hold our politicians accountable. They willfully lie right to our faces, and we let them get away with it.

We get the politicians we deserve.

An Article V convention vote would bring the people wanting more balance between the federal and State governments out of the woodwork.

The more we allow power to be concentrated at the top, the easier we make it for special interests to capture it. We literally provide them one stop shopping.

It drives me crazy to see Democrats whining about there being too much money in politics, and then they do things like the federal takeover of healthcare known as Obamacare.

Everyone, not just the Democrats, is making a power grab at the top.

You should see the shit the Republicans put in the CFMA. A total override of states' rights.

But you didn't hear a single right-wing hypocrite say a word about it.

Down goes the economy!

It's different when they do it.

I like the idea of having a viable 3rd party but I don't see Musk sticking with this. I believe as a frenetic genius he will soon get another idea and move on.
That's what I thought about Twitter.

I have no opinion yet.

However...

Given that the Left hates him for suggesting-to and helping-to gut various Federal social programming...

Given that the Right hates him for rebelling against Trump and publicly calling-out the Conservative ruling order...

And given that he's been filmed on multiple occasions serving-up Nazi -like hand-salutes in public...

Even without seeing a Party Platform...

I don't think it's likely to be going anywhere...

I'll hold-off on a final judgement until I see the Platform and see who begins to gravitate in that direction...

But I DO confess to a fair amount of early-days Skepticism...

lol you fell for that fake narrative?
Did I say that I "fell" for it?

Did my post on that subject say any-such thing?

Meaning: did I take it for a Nazi salute?

No.

But I DID say that he is on film serving up what LOOKS LIKE a Nazi salute.

And his political opponents are (and will continue to) have a friggin' FIELD DAY with that.

You know that as well as I do.

If you believe otherwise... if you believe that The Left (and some of the Center) aren't going to hold that against him...

Then you're walking-about on the face of the earth with blinders on.

I sincerely hope that that is not the case.

I sure wish Musk had thought of this "third party" thing before he danced around onstage with a ******* chainsaw and got the orange stain on him.

He's not stable. He needs people to run this, and it can't be him. He could WRECK the idea of a third party with this.
Yep. And probably will.

No news about that party?

The 'Libertarian Party' is also a rich kids' hobby now as well, has been for decades. It hasn't gone anywhere either. This one will be just as noisy and just as irrelevant and laughed at.
