I an interested as a European how the Americans think about it.

so I make this poll.

We've been around for hundreds of years and it has been a very long time since a third party was viable. Libertarians went from hoping for 10% of the vote to hoping for 2% of the vote. Ross Perot of the Reform Party received 20% of the vote when he ran for president and got a grand total of zero electoral votes.

Republicans and Democrats both have the deck stacked against third parties so that only one of the two of them can win. The only way to change that is to get both Republicans and Democrats to change the system that favors them. Good luck with that.

The only realistic option here is a coup of one of the two parties or both and replace them. Trump has very effectively engineered a coup of the Republican party and Progressives are attempting a coup of the Democrat party. In the end, we are still left with a two party system.

Being fiscally responsible is great, even crucial at this time. But what Musk is doing will have the opposite effect. I think he's being a little short sighted.

That is an unknown, but it will certainly hurt the GOP, that much is certain.

The irony here is that if Elon's party puts democrats back in power, the DNC will then probably spend hundreds of trillions of dollars fighting the air along with more and more free stuff, because we are Muricans and it's our right, thus further accelerating the demise of the Republic.

Third parties only work after the collapse of one of the two other parties.
