The Amazon rainforest is burning at a record rate.

I wonder if this is the first time the Arctic and the Amazon rain forest have burned at the same time.
July was the hottest month ever on Earth. Now massive wildfires are burning across the globe.
Well that is it game over man, the end is near.

Ever on earth? Was it hotter than this july? You tell when a liberal is lying when they say something like "July was the hottest month ever on the Earth" yet we are still alive and kicking. And yes there are a few idiots with an IQ lower than 30 who actually believe their lies.

Your lack of concern for the environment is quite telling.
I'll give you that, sir.

Soybeans cant compete with the world's #1 generator of oxygen. Therefore, boycott soybeans and petroleum addicts.

My lack of concern? Bwaaaaahhaaaaaaaaa..Tell me why the 2020 candidates are using private jets to go around the country yapping about climate change, and when they get into the arenas with all those lights, how much CO2 is that creating? If you want to save the planet, do us a favor. If we can get rid of all the worthless liberals, then there is no longer global warming, err I mean climate change.

Excuse me but try to focus on the subject.
You are the one scoffing at the idea that burning the rainforest will have a major effect
on climate change.

Wildfires have proliferated in the Amazon rainforest this year, producing fears about the impacts of right-wing President Jair Bolsonaro’s environmental policies and how the damage could contribute to climate change.

Brazil’s space research center, the National Institute for Space Research INPE, released data this week showing that wildfires had reached a record high in the region. The center, which began tracking wild fires in 2013, said that the Amazon has experienced more than 74,000 wildfires so far this year, an 84 percent uptick over the same period in 2018...

Wild fire is a natural occurrence. What's not natural is people running around starting those fires. Let it burn. It will come back in a year in way better shape.

News flash. The Amazon stories are fake news. According to nasa, the Amazon does not have more wildfires than usual. The pictures of the wildfires posted by celebrities are from 2016 or India. Whether it is trump or the environment, you just can’t believe anything the left says. Lying is now endemic to the left nd all social justice warriors.

Can you back yourself up on that? Link? I don't buy into the climate change thing, but according to people who actually live there, the current fires are real, and also I've read from several sources that there have been more fires in the past year....not because of "climate change" but because more slash and burn clearing is taking place for cattle ranching.

"Figures of the National Institute for Space Research, a federal agency, show that more forest was lost between May and July this year than during the same period in 2018, 2017 and 2016. In July alone, the rainforest lost 2,254 square kilometers (870 square miles) of vegetation, between three and five times the surfaces lost the same month in the past four years."

Here's a link: Latest deforestation data in Brazil show significant surge

PS: Stop making everything into a left-right thing, the truth should be what matters.

"Data released by INPE earlier this month indicated that more forest has been cleared in Brazil this summer alone than in the last three years combined."

Here's a link: The Amazon is burning at record rates—and deforestation is to blame

Climate change is a very real thing. In my view, anyway. I just don't think that more government is the solution. Heck, the government is one of the biggest polluters on the planet, last thing we need is more of it.

The smoke seems to be travelling quite a long distance this time. Apparently it's still going strong.

The Amazon is approaching an irreversible tipping point
The results would be disastrous, for Brazil and for the world

The Amazon is approaching an irreversible tipping point
TheEconomist.com - Aug 1st 2019 - NOVA XAVANTINA AND SANTARÉM

The amazon basin, most of which sits within the borders of Brazil, contains 40% of the world’s tropical forests and accounts for 10-15% of the biodiversity of Earth’s continents. Since the 1970s nearly 800,000km² of Brazil’s original 4m km² (1.5m square miles) of Amazon forest has been lost to logging, farming, mining, roads, dams and other forms of development—an area equivalent to that of Turkey, and bigger than that of Texas. Over the same period, the average temperature in the basin has risen by about 0.6°C. This century, the region has suffered a series of severe droughts.

Both the reduction in tree coverage and the change in climate were endangering the forest’s future well before Brazil’s general elections of October 2018. But after that the forest faced another threat: Jair Bolsonaro, the new president, and arguably the most environmentally dangerous head of state in the world.

NASA Say Amazon Rainforest Burning At Close To Average Rates - Yet Many News Stories Say Record Rates - Which Is It?

It’s just tiring that I have to inform you and then educate you. A curious person would have done some research and said, oh you are right, isn’t that interesting. Partisans realize by the time the real explanation and the truth surface that all the unserious people have moved on and will never know how they are being manipulated. I’ll let you check on the old pictures used by celebrities in their tweets.

The Amazon fire lies are getting exposed, which is unsurprising.

From Jo Nova

Firestorm of Fake News: “convenient” global hysteria about Amazon based on nothing but twitter pics

Excerpt:

Global Fire Data shows this year is unequivocally a low fire season in the Amazon. But social media tears and outrage is running at 1000% driven by fake photos and fake facts of the Amazon producing “20% of our planet’s oxygen”.

And the so-called media experts at the ABC fell for nothing more than hyped rumours and fauxtrage. They didn’t check the data, didn’t ask hard questions.

Based on hyperbolic twitter pics French leader Macron is threatening to cancel a foreign trade deal. The hype serves the purpose of attacking the right wing Brazilian leader Jair Bolnasaro in the lead up to a G7 summit this week…

Who’s feeding the twitter flames?

The photo he used? It’s a stock photo from Loren McIntyre, a photographer who died in 2003. h/t @Desesquerdizada

Funding cuts have created plenty of enemies

Many people have a reason to want Bolnasaro to look bad: In May Bolnasaro withdrew an offer to host a United Nations Latin America and Caribbean climate week. In the same week, the president fired self-confessed “militant environmentalist” Alfredo Sirkis, then-leader of The Brazil Forum for Climate Change. He also declared a 30 percent funding cut to maintenance costs of Brazil’s state-owned universities. Three weeks ago, Brazil’s INPE Space director was sacked. The INPE have been the source of the dire data used in some media stories. But Bolnaro said the data was “not consistent with reality”, accused the head of the INPE of “lies” and working for an NGO. On the 13th August Germany announced plans to withdraw some €35 million due to the country’s lack of commitment to curbing deforestation . On August 15, Norway suspended donations too.

Thanks to Robert Walker at Science 2.0 for the statistics via Climate Depot.

The tally of fire counts here is up to data for August 22, 2019. Emissions are preliminary estimates based on fire counts, but the graph shows just how ordinary, normal and boring 2019 is.

There is that tipping point again, that we heard over 19 years ago. Back then we only had 10 years left before Global Warming was going to be at the tipping point of no return, if we didnt do something. Guess what? He was wrong. Now we have 11 years 2 months, guess what? She will be wrong and some other wiener will be scaring you.

Yeah all those uber rich elites all using private jets, spewing tons of CO2, to that meeting of the G-7 talking about "climate change" and "Income Inequality". Only person not a hypocrite but hated so much, was President Trump. Just cant get more stupid than a liberal

So you want to bash conservatives, go ahead, but I know the real polluters, they are Marxists/Socialists/communists/Liberals/progressives/Demonrats.

partisan universes , the black hole of all logic.....

No, that's not what is happening, not even close. It wasn't "clearing brush" to prevent wildfires. Unlike California, the wetness of the rainforest means that they don't have that many natural wildfires. As I said before, these were deliberately set to clear land for cattle ranching. At least that's what I heard

Legal Arson??

What can individuals do?

The most important actions are political and collective. Join a party or campaign group that makes the Amazon a priority. Through these groups, urge your elected representatives to block trade deals with countries that destroy their forests and to provide more support for countries that expand tree cover.

Apart from this, donate to organisations that support the forest, forest dwellers and biodiversity, including Instituto Socioambiental, Amazon Watch, WWF, Greenpeace, Imazon, International Rivers and Friends of the Earth.

Are you really that low of IQ? USSR, East Germany, and all the rest of the Warsaw Pact, plus Cuba and Venezuela, didnt give a crap about the environment thus you had so much pollution from those countries, because the government just didnt give a damn. Why else did Chernobyl happen?
