The KKK was the political muscle of the democrat party from the late 19th century through the middle of the 20th century. The longest serving democrat in the senate was a KKK member and FDR appointed a KKK member, Justice Black, to the Supreme Court with little outrage in the media. Justice Black paid FDR back by writing the majority opinion that exonerated FDR for ordering American citizens and legal aliens arrested without due process for the crime of being Japanese.
