Thank God for secularism

If people want to teach "The Bible" then they should teach about the history of it, the squabbling, the textual analysis the inclusion of some books and the exclusion of other books by different authorities at different points in history. Give children a solid grasp of how humans have been deciding and interpreting and telling others what to believe for centuries.

Some things (like "let he who is without sin cast the first stone...") is considered forged, added later, there are lots of messy complex details but the unthinking robots just follow whatever their chosen leader says.

So please trumpanzees, don't come here and tell me about the Bible when you jack shit about it yourselves.

The question of exactly which ancient literature is and is not inspired is FOUNDATIONAL to one's theological beliefs, the entire basis for all they regard as true - but do fundamentalist Bible bashers care? Nope.

There are some Christian groups that reject the epistles for examples, but how many here knew that? Paul never met Jesus, probably never read any of the Gospels so how did he get any knowledge of Jesus' ministry and resurrection? questions, questions, questions...

So teach this, stop forcing your own denominational preferences on others.

But Muslims revere the Bible and acknowledge Jesus as a prophet, so they worship the same God Abraham did, therefore they do not worship a false God.

Furthermore "The Bible" is just a chosen collection of ancient literature, furthermore by what authority is the specific collection defined? The Catholics included the apocrypha as part of the inspired canon until Martin Luther disagreed, so who's Bible is "The" Bible? the Catholics? Luther's?

I just refuted it.
Calling Jesus just a prophet, is blasphemy he is the Son of God and Savior. Nothing changes, or refutes a Historical Jesus and his works.

Really? who told you that? (I mean that, tell me WHO told you that)

he is the Son of God and Savior.
But still a prophet, well if you believe the Gospels, do you?
Nothing changes, or refutes a Historical Jesus and his works.
But you just rebutted it, you just insisted it was blasphemy to call Jesus a prophet but even his disciples called him that.

How can you spout off in this thread about teaching the Bible or God's word when you know nothing about it yourself?

The right to decide. No one gets to tell you how you think or feel about Your religion,
or lack of religious teaching. THE PUSH in either direction is stealing personal Freedom.

As an atheist, I would contend that secular liberalism has become a cult itself, adopting ideologies that require leaps of faith.

It's ideals have been grossly exploited, as it veers down the path of civilizational suicide and violent destabilization across the West.

Well we "the West" have enjoyed peace in our home countries, look at WW1 and then twenty years later WW2. Millions killed, economies crippled, but we've not had such wars all through the increasingly liberal 50, 60s etc, only rising standards of living, increased longevity etc etc

The times prior to WW1 were the antithesis of liberal, most people attended churches and yet we had brutal wars ever few years, people dying in their 50s, poor medical facilities, low living standards...

Have you.

Yawn.

So, just another rant from another malcontent.

I am opposed to your side using your positions as teachers or administrators to push your ideological agenda or your sexual perversions.

I stand by that.

15th post
I believe that there's no good argument for allowing Texas to force schools to display some small snippet of the Bible in classrooms, that's it, that's my position. There are libraries and the Bible is a book that any child can pick up ay time.

So, you're dropping the pretense that it is important when you do it, but not when we push back?

LOL, rhetorical question, I know you did not drop it, and that you will circle back to it, when you need to.

Shit talker.

In which imaginary post did you imagine you read me saying that imaginary thing?

Objecting to the government picking and choosing bits of scripture and insisting my children are exposed to it is what I'm doing, after all I do have a voice.

Yes, I know, and you're an entitled malcontent, ever had a job? ever paid rent" ever gotten an academic qualification? in fact did you ever even go to school?

Your shit talk dismissed.

YOu want to be serious and engage honestly any of my points, or you just going to keep shit talking?
