That's Right. King Oil going cleaner and Cheaper... BIG!
CNBC - Feb 18, 2022

KEY POINTS
  • Texas led the country in new renewable energy projects last year, according to a report released this week by the American Clean Power Association.
  • Texas installed 7,352 megawatts of new wind, solar and energy installation projects last year, significantly outpacing California, which installed 2,697 megawatts of storage projects.
  • Republicans for decades have overseen the the energy sector in Texas, which still ranks 10th in the country for fossil fuel consumption, as nearly 90% of its energy is derived from fossil fuels.

....Texas also surpassed other states in the amount of Storage it has under construction or in advanced development, reaching nearly 20,000 megawatts, followed by California at nearly 14,000 megawatts.

Texas is experiencing a rise in renewable energy deployment Not necessarily due to concerns over human-caused climate change, but rather because of the Low Costs of renewable energy sources like solar and wind development......

How many were subsidized by taxpayers, and by how much?

Please show those "key points".
Missed the little after the 'Key points'?

Texas is great for both Solar and Wind.
A Natural, like much of the Southwest.

Fossil Fuels Received $5.9 Trillion In Subsidies in 2020, Report Finds. Coal, oil, and natural gas received $5.9 trillion in subsidies in 2020 — or roughly $11 million every minute — according to a new analysis from the International Monetary Fund. Explicit subsidies accounted for only 8 percent of the total.Oct 6, 2021

The MISI report found that non-hydro renewable energy (primarily wind and solar) benefited from $158 billion in federal subsidies, or 16% of the total, largely in the form of tax policy and direct federal expenditures on research and development (R&D)

Whataboutism isn't an argument.

And that is what is driving the 'Conservatives' nuts. It is not liberal policies or environmental concerns that is driving the switch to renewables, but economics. Renewables are less costly in every way. Less costly to install, less costly to maintain.

Thats fucken stupid.
Why would texas beating you clowns in your own game piss us off?

I'm all supporting renewable energy ... we need to use Navy submarines to flood the oceans with Viagra and Barry White music ...

LOL Just got your silly ass kicked and that is all that you can say. Fossil fuels got 5.9 trillion dollars in subsidies, and renewables got 158 billion in subsidies. Yet 92% of the new energy generation built last year was renewables. That is over 37 times as much for fossil fuels as renewables, yet the utilities still choose to build renewables.. That says pretty much what the economics are.

Still not an argument.

Alsoplustoo. all of the depreciation tax breaks available to evrey other business are counted in those "subsidies", which is dishonest as fuck...Though par for the course for dishonest hacks like you.

Yes, Texas is known for their subsidies for renewables.
Yeah, that's it.
The 'Skeptics are NOT winning'.....
The Greens are/GND is, and without Govt help.

Oh I still think it's not ready for prime time.
When the gov has to subsidize it that tells you it's a farce.
this is happening because the renewables being used Are the cheapest without subsidies.

Renewables made up 92% of new generating capacity in the U.S. in the first half of 2021

[...]"...data recently released by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA)...

FERC’s latest monthly “Energy Infrastructure Update” report (with data through June 30, 2021) reveals that renewable energy sources accounted for 91.6% – or 10,940 megawatts (MW) – of the 11,940 MW of new capacity added during the first six months of the year. Wind led the capacity additions with 5,617 MW, followed closely by solar (5,279 MW). Further, wind and solar were the only sources of new capacity additions in June 2021.

Renewables now provide more than a quarter (25.1%) of total U.S. available installed generating capacity. A year ago, their share was only 23.0%. Wind is now more than a tenth (10.4%) of the nation’s generating capacity while utility-scale solar is nearly five percent (4.9%) … and that does not include distributed (e.g., rooftop) solar.

Moreover, FERC data suggest that renewables’ share of generating capacity is on track to increase significantly over the next three years (i.e., by June 2024). “High probability” generation capacity additions for wind, minus anticipated retirements, reflect a projected net increase of 21,129 MW while solar is foreseen growing by 44,385 MW. By comparison, net growth for natural gas will be only 13,241 MW. Thus, wind and solar combined are forecast to provide roughly five times more new net generating capacity than natural gas over the next three years.

If these numbers materialize, by June 2024, renewable energy generating capacity should account for almost 30 percent (29.4%) of the nation’s total available installed generating capacity.

I dont think you understand what you read.
92% of new generating. Not existing energy.
Wind and solar are still only a very small portion of power over all.

I posted and can read "New".... you?
No one said anything about "existing."
Only an ldiot would claim, or assume, '92 percent existing.'

Point being what is NOW cheapest.
Unbelievable.

They're quoting "new" energy when in fact the overall use of renewables are a fraction of actual power output.
And the only reason it's that high is because they aren't building new coal or natural gas plants.

There are many many better reasons to curtail fossil fuel burning than just global warming ... I thought everyone here knew that Oklahoma is the top wind power producing state in the union ...

The same Oklahoma field can be used to graze cattle, spin wind turbines and pump oil out of the ground ... Joe Farmer can shut down any of these operations when the prices are down ... although this is more of an example of good old Oklahoma ingenuity than anything else ..

And that is what is driving the 'Conservatives' nuts. It is not liberal policies or environmental concerns that is driving the switch to renewables, but economics. Renewables are less costly in every way. Less costly to install, less costly to maintain.
Exactly.

The analogy?

The woman who goes out and boasts about getting a boob job and increasing her boob size by 100%. But since she started flat chested, she now sports an A cup. Nobody is impressed.

:cul2: :hello77::cul2::hello77:

Wind and solar still laughable by any measure.
