There are government stats on familicides. Its not pretty or unusual.

With 340,000,000 citizens and 434,000,000 firearms owned by civilians in the US...I'd say our definitions of 'unusual' are divergent in the extreme.

Now it's a simple math problem...

Number of homicides divided by the number of guns gives us the probability that any one gun will be involved in a homicide.

And the result is a 0.000025% probability.

If there was a that's 2.5 one-hundred-thousandths of one percent.

Let me put that into perspective for you.

39,400 US citizens die from falls each year.

Same math problem...

Number of people killed by falls divided by the total population...


And the result is 0.0001 or one ten-thousandths of one percent.

What does this mean?

It means in any given year you personally (if you were in America) are FOUR TIMES MORE LIKELY to die from a fall than for any of the 434,000,000 guns in the United States to be used in a homicide.
