The headline makes perfect sense.

Inflation causes the Fed to raise interest rates, thus making bonds and Treasury securities more appealing to own than non-yielding gold.

Also, if a speculator is heavily leveraged, they have to sell their hard assets (like gold, bitcoin, etc.) to cover their losses during a downturn.
