now that would be interesting. If the California electorates voted for Trump, would the left be upset about the voters being disenfranchised? I can tell you right now that I hate hillary and I would personally have a big problem with the electorates throwing away that many votes, even if they were votes for the cow.
Peoples votes need to count regardless of who they voted for. They need to count our this country is finished.

Doubt people know who these people really are. You just vote for who they are planning to vote for. I don't remember voting for my electoral college voter in NC.

The candidate knows who they are, where possible most electors are family members and trusted friends, in places where there are not friends and family the candidate entrusts these picks to someone he or she knows will pick trusted electors or are supposed to anyway

I believe I got it from Pat Buchanan and Michael Kinsley while they were hosting a political forum right after the 2000 election and Al Gore's team was trying to get Florida electors to switch their votes...

I don't see how it matters when or where they are picked, it is how they are chosen that matters...I'm sure it is not random, I'm sure it is done with the intent that they can be counted on to cast their vote that falls in line with the party...why do you assume then that family members are not allowed to be electors?...if they are not allowed then I am wrong, but it seems to me if you cannot find anything that specifically bars them then they would be the most logical choice for being chosen...I am doing this from memory so I am allowing that this could all be wrong...I am too lazy to look, but if you can find any legally definitive rules governing the choice of electors I will gladly read them.
