This is a bit of an oddity. A western with a swedish hero.
It was directed by a blacklisted director. The blacklist was something US fascists inventeed last time they had power.
In truth its not great. Sterling Hayden mangles the swedish accent and the showdown sees him armed with a harpoon. Like in most westerne.
And its oil whch is the reason for all the shenenigans. Remember when oil was considered good ?
I give it 5 out of 10.

Morning tommy, see you're punched in already, lets get down to it
I give it 5 out of 10.
hmm a 5 on that scale is very generous for any Trumbo film tommy, that fact is why most folk didn't/wouldn't waste their time and/or money on it the way you did.

The USA has never had fascists in power

"The last time American fascists had power?" You mean up until January of this year! 🤣

So what filmmakers meet with you approval? Leni Riefenstahl?

I'm a big fan of Sterling Hayden, not seen this western so I will add it to some list.

My fave Hayden movies are:

I also a film from the same era where he played a rather hard nosed cop, even hints of Dirty Harry but I can't recall the title.

Why do any have to meet with approval? and since this is tommy's thread why did you not ask him as well?
In any case they don't really rate worth even having a rating, but I'll go with the tommy system and give the lot of them a 5 because I am in a generous mood...don't recognize your compatriot Leni Riefenstahl, had to look "him" up to find out "he" was a "she" and figured he/she/they had to be a european if you were trying to belittle me in some way, I don't take offense to too much but inferring/implying I am some sort of europhile comes close to crossing that line.

lol...Coming from a european that could very well be "The Pink Panther" :abgg2q.jpg:

Seymore Butz, great director of all the action you can handle.

By all accounts Hayden was a decent chap.
