Harry Truman's HUAC was the only political tool of the federal government related to the communist infiltration of society in the late 40's and 50's and HUAC had no power to "blacklist" anyone only subpoena power. Hollywood blacklisted it's own to avoid loss of revenue during Truman's communist purge.
