Ridiculous. No one. And I mean no one. Pays more for American stuff. If a company is making something uniquely, sure. But of the identical two items, one made in china and one in the US the one that will sell is the one that is one single cent cheaper.

Not me, particularly for steel parts. Much of the Chinese steel is weak and brittle. They are capable of making good steel, but they cut corners whenever possible. Ever tried to screw a Chinese screw into US metal? Better be careful because it will cross-thread the screw very easily. American nuts and bolts are marginally more expensive so I always look for them.

Yesterday, I bought a stitched American Flag made in the USA that was twice as much as a stitched one made in China.

I do agree though, that for some things, it doesn’t matter if the quality is a little less. I will buy the cheaper Chinese stuff, but only if it saves me a significant amount of money. For pennies or a dollar here or there, why not?
