I think I would blame the rich Republicans who moved all the good paying factory jobs out ofthe Back of the Yards and Canaryville neighborhoods. They probably had more to do with this neighborhood being poor than government programs trying to alievate it.

Of course, it's not like rich people don't help out their family members when they get into trouble. Just ask Amanda Knox.

This was my first thought: the OP blames this death on liberal social programs, but the fact is, had there been no gun, there would have been no death. The access to firearms is why one child is dead and another is a murderer.

Also, not only the prevalence of firearms but the attitude and perspective that using a gun is a reasonable way to solve a problem--that comes from the right, not the left.
