Judging from the increase in human trafficking the police were correctly acting out of an abundance of caution. If the police are wrong, the girl and her partner are inconvenienced for a short time. If the police were right, they had kept her from being sold as a sex slave.

This is the world we live in now. Blame the slavers.

2 things.

Police checking the situation extensively - totally right.

Police brutality and unnecessary rudeness ( which is extremely common nowadays) - totally wrong.

Nothing racist, though.

A 13 year old white girl with 22 and 29 year old black men, at 3 o'clock in the morning...

How often would you expect that to be totally on the up and up?

This story is the exception, not the rule. Profiling saves lives. And cops are dicks, it's just how they're wired. If they weren't, they'd be in a different profession.

It is totally racist profiling. If the girl had been black and the same age, they would not have stopped them. If the girl had been with two white men, they would not have stopped them. And they even told them the reason they were stopping them was because she was white. Even after they saw all her papers, and talked to her mom on the phone, they took her away from them. This is as racist as it gets. There isn't any excuse for it unless they are stopping all cars with adult men and girls under 18, no matter what race they are. That is something they are not doing, so it is obviously racist profiling. Anyone who would excuse it is a racist.

Settle down Spongebob.

First of all, they weren't stopped by the police. They were parked, asleep, at a gas station. The police will investigate something like that EVERY time.

Secondly, it wasn't "racist" profiling, it was "racial" profiling. And in this case it was completely justifiable racial profiling.

Racial profiling is racist. There were not 'completely justified' at all. Taking her away from her guardians who had papers giving them permission to have her with them, taking her away after they had talked to her and to her mother, this is not justified, and they would not have done it if she were a black girl. It is racist and not justified.

Racial profiling is racist.
It can be, but it's not a given.

Is it racist when a black police officer profiles a black person?

There were not 'completely justified' at all.
Agree to disagree. Again, how often would you expect to find a 13 year old white girl with two adult black men, at 3am, and have it be completely innocent as it was in this case?

As the alternative is too horrible to contemplate, it doesn't matter whether it was racist. It was necessary. If the police even thought about the consequences of such racial profiling they would have been wrong.

I agree if a car is parked in a gas station at 3 am and the people are snoozing, and there is a minor, ok, the cops can check it out, but they immediately put one man in handcuffs and after they talked to the girl, and to her mother, and saw the paperwork, they still took the girl away. That is NOT justified and they would not have done it if she had been black.

Get a grip Shaniqua.....everything isn't about race except to a racist.

Again, the girl is 13 and sleeping in a car with 2 male adults at 3am.

I don't care if she was asian, white, black, hispanic, or the 2 men where asian, white, black, hispanic, or eskimo.

The police did the right thing and Child Protective Service should become involved. ...

The paperwork and phone call could have been faked. The worst thing that could have possibly happened with the course these officers took is that dickhead race pimps would try to sensationalize cautious and responsible police work... oops!

they would not have done it if she had been black.
Pure speculation on your part, and an opinion I do not share.

Why do you people do so much name calling? It just proves what low lives you are. Do you think calling me names heightens your argument? Because it actually lowers it, shows you have to try to demean your opponent in a debate with name calling because you don't have anything substantial to say.

You have just repeated arguments I have twice defeated. People need to stop repeating the same argument. Stop ignoring the points I am making and address them, if you can.

What they did would not have been done if the girl with them was black, and the cops even admitted it. Do you think they are checking, or should check all cars with adult men and a female minor in the car? They don't, and you know it. Normally they would assume the man was the girl's father or brother, if he were white.

Do you think, though she says she belongs with them, and there is paperwork to prove it, and they speak to her mother on the phone, they should still be suspicious and take her away? Do you think they do that in all situations where a girl is with an adult man? No, not if she is the same race. They did this for one reason only, because of race.

Do you think, if you had a 13 year old daughter and were taking her on a trip, and you got tired of driving late at night and pulled over for a nap, if the cops stopped and took her away from you, though you had paperwork to show she belonged with you and they spoke to her mother on the phone, do you think the cops would be justified in taking her away? What if they took her away because you are a Muslim? That would all be okay? Justified?

This is a no win situation for the police. Ignore it and it turns out she's being abused/traded by these guys? Then all you hear is "why didnt the police do something"

Where the police erred is in being assholes about it during the procedure. If they had kept it professional this story would not have gotten as far as it has.

The issue here is that they took her away because she is white and her guardians are black. They are not out checking up on every father who is traveling with his daughter, of the same race, and taking the girl away from him. This was based on race and nothing more.

The police chief (who is black) was on the news defending the actions of the patrolmen 100% ...
Well, duh. He has to do that. That's his job.
Incorrect.

The police chiefs job is to stand up for his people when they are in the right.

And to weed out the bad cops when they are wrong.

Only a racist like you needs this pointed out. ...
