Homeschooling Protects Children from Violence and Marxism

The February mass shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida prompted many parents to consider homeschooling. This is hardly surprising, as the misnamed federal “Gun-Free Schools” law leaves schoolchildren defenseless against mass shooters. Removing one’s children from government schools seems a rational response to school shootings.

School shootings are not the only form of violence causing more parents to consider homeschooling. Many potential homeschooling parents are concerned about the failure of school administrators to effectively protect children from bullying by other students.

Of course many parents choose homeschooling as a means of protecting their children from federal education “reforms” such as Common Core. Other parents are motivated by a desire to protect their children from the cultural Marxism that has infiltrated many schools.

The spread of cultural Marxism has contributed to the dumbing down of public education. Too many government schools are more concerned with promoting political agendas than ensuring that students receive a good education...

In 62% of families with children, both parents are working, no doubt most because they have to in order to meet the mortgage and keep the car running.
A lot of parents also aren't cut out to teach, or they don't want to be in the role of teacher to their own children. Homeschooling is a really serious commitment and while I've seen it done very well, it is not a decision to be made lightly, if a couple can afford that choice at all.
All this Marxist bullshit is just that--bullshit. Parents certainly have the right to explain to their children the other side of the coin when they get home from school. Most would rather just read Breitbart and complain.

And parents are fully capable of making the decision that they're not prepared to homeschool if that's the case. The question is, why are leftists so vehemently opposed to LETTING the parents choose?

It's one reason the left opposes homeschooling

No, liberals just don't want their kids to turn out like you.

Excuse me, but was someone suggesting FORCING people to homeschool? Is there some reason I'm not seeing that how you raise your children is affected by whether or not I homeschool my own?

So please explain to me the very-not-evident reasoning behind your statement that leftists oppose homeschooling because they're concerned about their own children.

Millennials and teenagers are already showing the desocialization effects and break down of human interaction from Facebook/Twitter/Reddit. Now you want them to be even more removed from ordinary social skills that one needs to have in order to say....sit down for a job interview, interact and function within the workplace and even their own families? I don't think so.

The world is not comprised of a kid's parents and their opinions. Learning how to cope with a diversity of people and cultures is tantamount to being successful in life.

Please show me the great improvement in social interaction skills that has been produced by today's public schools, because from where I sit, our younger generations look largely like a bunch of nasty, violent, ill-mannered little troglodytes. Have you actually spent any real time around people under 21 lately? Holy cats, two of my children are in their 20s now, and I'd STILL slap a knot on their heads if they acted the way most young people do now. My 9-year-old would be mortified at the very concept.

I hear ya, maybe one day there will be other options as well. It'll be tough though, the Communists/Democrats vigorously oppose all alternatives to Government Schooling. And why not? They got a great scam going. It isn't in their best interest to see anything change.
Democrats aren't communists. Maybe you should have gone to school yourself.

Yes they are. Most Democrats don't realize they're Communists, because they're what Lenin called 'Useful Idiots.' They call themselves 'Progressives' or 'Socialists', but they're Communists. They're contributing to advancing the Communist Agenda. It is what it is.

Obviously i disagree with your premise 100%. Children can engage in social interaction while being Home-schooled. They push it to dissuade parents from seeking education alternatives.

Communists/Democrats got a great scam going. They've created 'Indoctrination Centers' in Government-schooling. It isn't in their best interest to see anything change. PREGNANT STUDENTS

What do I do when a student who is a minor tells me she thinks she is pregnant? And, if she hasn’t told her parents and plans to have an abortion, do I have a legal obligation to share the information with her parents and/or administration?

There are many issues to consider when dealing with this difficult situation. It is most important to know your state laws around this topic (i.e., what is the age of consent, issues around pregnancy decision-making, etc.) as well as your school board policies regarding this issue and community norms. Find out how or if the student has confirmed her pregnancy. Other issues to consider include whether the sex was consensual and the age difference of both parties. It is also important to understand the legal issues on parental rights vs. student’s right to confidentiality before preceding any further. Understanding the student’s relationship with her parents will help you initiate how to approach having the student tell the parents. It is imperative to monitor your own biases while at the same time helping the student process how to best disclose to the parents if at all possible.

To me it seems that your argument, saying public education is Marxist propaganda, is the side that is opposed to change--change in curriculum, updating of methods and textbooks, changes to address social issues like bullying. Who is the one opposed to change?
The funding formula for public schools requires a good # of students attend or they will have to shut their doors. Then parents who have to both work and parents who can't afford private school are going to have nowhere decent to send their kids to school. THAT is what public schools are afraid of. Change the funding sources, I suppose that could be worked around somehow, but I have no knowledge about that.

I took religions of the world in school. We even had field trips to different places. As a matter of fact we had the Ten Commandments in a lot of my schools. There’s nothing wrong with that.

Homeschooling Protects Children from Violence and Marxism

Millennials and teenagers are already showing the desocialization effects and break down of human interaction from Facebook/Twitter/Reddit. Now you want them to be even more removed from ordinary social skills that one needs to have in order to say....sit down for a job interview, interact and function within the workplace and even their own families? I don't think so.

The world is not comprised of a kid's parents and their opinions. Learning how to cope with a diversity of people and cultures is tantamount to being successful in life.

Ron Paul's expiration date was a few years ago. He's off his rocker.

Yeah, i find it hard to fathom how anyone can argue today's Government-Schooling = 'Wonderful positive' social interaction. Maybe at one time that was the case, but it certainly isn't anymore.

Maybe they're fans of "bonding" while huddling together in lockdown while some lunatic the left refused to let us incarcerate shoots up the school, which the leftists wouldn't allow us to provide with armed security.

Wanna keep your children safe, and free of Communist/Democrat indoctrination? Keep them far away from Government Schools. Seriously consider all education alternatives.

Great article by Dr. Ron Paul

Obviously i disagree with your premise 100%. Children can engage in social interaction while being Home-schooled. It's an outdated old wives tale to claim they can't experience social interaction if they're Home-schooled. The Communists have pushed that lie for years. They push it to dissuade parents from seeking education alternatives.

Communists/Democrats got a great scam going. They've created 'Indoctrination Centers' in Government-schooling. It isn't in their best interest to see anything change. So they're gonna continue to vigorously oppose all education alternatives. But hopefully parents will seek alternatives, despite that opposition.

I just heard "They're afraid of putting the needs of the kids over the needs of the institution, because it undercuts their job security."
