I'd think that, outside of the movement, the "Tea Party" brand is pretty damaged as a result. And you know what happens once a brand is damaged.

My "theory" is that many people who think of themselves as Tea Partiers are relatively new to the political process, and they're just not very good at it yet. They became pissed off and fed up - good for them - and jumped into the political fray without yet knowing how the image game is played.

I completely, absolutely don't get her appeal.

Not much depth there. I saw her recently on C-SPAN, and I watched for a while assuming that she's become a little better. Instead, it was the same old stuff, just a long line of simplistic platitudes and zingers. She's just not nearly serious enough for my tastes, not enough "gravitas".

She's great for firing up the base, don't get me wrong. But I'm pretty sure my views are shared by a lot independents or moderates, and I'd think the best strategy for the party would be to try to keep her in her lane.
