Is there an analogy here with the Connie Hawkins basketball story?
Hawkins was a freshman in college at the time when Frosh couldn't play varsity BB. Some of the players on the varsity were taking money from a bookie back home, and the program was sanctioned. Hawkins got swept up in the negative publicity, had his scholarship revoked, and the NBA teams informally blackballed him, even though he obviously had the talent to play at that level - superstar level, in fact. His attorneys brought an antitrust suit against the NBA, which was settled for a couple mil in Hawk's pocket. It took several years. Despite his truncated career, he is still regarded as one of the best forwards in BB history.
Kap hasn't broken any laws but has been blackballed - as any disinterested observer would conclude. In a time period when quarterbacks are spending years on the DL for injuries, other less-talented QB's have been signed while Kap sits.
Anti-trust suit? Just a thought.
