Swift Boat ad #3

A MAJOR UNCORRECTED ERROR AT THE LOS ANGELES TIMES: It just gets worse.

UPDATE: The error is repeated in The New Republic. ("The veterans featured in the organization's TV ad claim to have 'served with Kerry,' but none actually served on the same boat.") The "same boat" claim is dumb -- but forget Clintonian parsing of what "served with" means, it's also not true. I thought weeklies were supposed to have the time to get stuff like this right.

ANOTHER UPDATE: Refuting this error is this new ad from the Swiftboat Vets featuring Steve Gardner who says that he spent more time on Kerry's boat than any other veteran, and that the Christmas in Cambodia story is false. It's going to be hard for the Kerry campaign to argue with that, since they've already admitted it.

Once again i have to ask... who cares whether he was there or not? Who cares if he lied about it or not. Is this the worst there is on this guy? his policies are not bad enough?

Travis? You are kidding right?

Sure i care, but he is a career politician, it is to be expected. I certainly do not need it to be proven to me yet again.

Tell us that you really did not know he was a liar before the swift vote ads.

There are plenty out there that DON'T care. By highlighting this kind of stuff, it makes people take an honest look at the candidates.

Your favorite candidate hasn't had his lies outlined cuz he isn't getting enough attention. Believe me, if Bandarik or whatever his name is really posed any threat, you would probably learn things about him you never knew.

(that is, unless you really are him as I suspect! :rotflmao: )

If they do not care, then showing it to them on TV certainly is not going to get them to change their opinion.

It would probably be best not to mention badnarik. People get upset when he is mentioned in threads that do not have his name in the topic name.

You do not think that more people would reconsider their support of Kerry when they learn his voting record rather than that he lied? pretty much everyone already knows that politicians lie. That is nothing new. But Kerrys voting record would be news to alot of people.

I think that with SOME the lieing thing is more important than their record. You are right, with SOME, NOTHING is going to matter as they are too partisan in their views.

There are a lot of what I call Southern Democrats or the Old Guard Democrats that will be much more upset over his lieing than they will be over his record in the Senate. Most realize that a President truly has less power than we like to think. They vote for the Party, not the candidate. But there are those that will "switch" sides if they think the candidate for their "normal" party is just too dishonest to get anything done.

So, in my opinion, lieing is more important than one's record if I break it down into how those that are typically a-political vote.

But this is a blatantly evil and offensive lie about OTHER PEOPLE. Kerry will not survive this.

Exactly. Everybody accepts a little bit of lying from a candidate as we have come to expect it (that is why politicians always rate so low on those polls that ask "who do you admire").

However, lying in this manner, well, many will just not accept it. Many just despise the politics of personal destruction. Especially when it is a presidential candidate trying to destruct the image of average Americans. A lot of people will have more sympathy for the "little" guy than they will for the presidential contender. Especially somebody as RICH and ARROGANT as Kerry.

You think that kerry is any less honest than the majority of democrats and republicans?

I think not only are you wrong, but that kerry is happy to have such a distraction being propelled by Republicans.

His policies are horrible, but HE made his Vietnam service an issue.

I also have interest in if he lied about it or not regardless if he is running for president. I have friends and family that were in Vietnam that were treated like shit when they came home because Kerry made it sound like everyone over there was committing war crimes. If half the things that are being said about his service turn out to be true, not only should he not be president, he should be run out of the senate.

More than him being a patholigical liar, is also the fact that he associated himself with a radical anti-war movement when he came back and esentially made sweeping dangerous generalization statements about the rest of those still fighting over there, when in fact the war atrocities were not near what he exagerated them to be.
If you put it all together you come up with a vacuous, lying, opportunistic, socialistic, apologetic to the UN, shell of a man who does not have anything that it takes to lead this country especially at the very dangerous time we are at now.

yeah he did. It would be better to respond with something along the lines of 'whether you were in vietnam or not has nothing to do with this race. Lets hear what ideas you actually have for this nations future' Instead of questioning where he was or how superficial his wounds were which does nothing for this nation.

What he said about the war is important, what he did or did not do in the war is not.

He's had plenty of time to do that. When he was asked about something, he gave one answer one day, another answer the next, three days later another...

It's important to me, and I'm willing to bet it would be important to most Vietnam Vets. To some, I know it's important.

There was only one question put to you and that was do you care.

And you are wrong, not only is it NOT expected, but that it precisely the problem today. Too many people willing to "expect" less than integrity and that is exactly what they get.

I answered the one question. I do care. And not only do I care but I am doing something about it. I am not voting for ANYONE that I do not trust. I am not devoting time trying to prove that any candidate lied about anything that has nothing to do with how they will run the country.

Is anyone starting to notice a similarity between Kerry and Al Gore ?

Clinton, Gore, and Dukakis. That's off the top of my head. A chameleon for all seasons.
