Swalwell demands 2028 Dem candidates vow to destroy Trump's White House ballroom project

YOu mean absurd, gaudy, and unnecessary.
/----/ You prefer a large tent, grass floor, and wobbly tables that cost the taxpayers $$$$ to be put up and taken down for each affair, and then the grass has to be resodded because it's destroyed? Somehow that is less absurd, gaudy and unnecessary?

And don't forget the porta-potties that dignitaries have to use.

I'm sure the few times they have to do that costs far less than some ridiculous structure that will maybe get used, what, a dozen times a year.

The cost for which is not coming out of your pocket. The planned destruction and replacement of which, however, WILL, and apparently that's okay.

/----/ You're sure???? No, you're guessing.
Biden held four of his six state dinners outdoors using tents.
2. Why the tents draw ire — cost, dignity, and weather risks
Critics, including President Trump in the cited reporting, have called the tent practice a “disaster” in bad weather and an embarrassing expense, with some estimates putting tent-related event costs at more than $1 million; opponents argue these arrangements can undermine the ceremonial dignity of state functions and create logistical headaches. Supporters of modernization contend that a permanent indoor solution would reduce recurring costs and weather-related failures, framing the tents as an avoidable compromise between formality and available indoor space [1] [2].

I think the cost of erasing Trump's stench from this country will be very expensive, but worth every penny.
Good, then we will allow opt-ins and opt-outs for the costs of what cosmetic changes the next democrat administration (it will eventually happen) wants to do. If there are enough people willing to put their money where their mouth is, go for it and be idiots.

Okay, so I am going to look at your math here.

1 Million for a tent event vs. $250 million for the Trump Mussolini Monument.

Or they could just rent a hall. That works, too.

Again, if things were going great, this wouldn't be as much of an issue.

But when you are talking about cancelling people's health care and food stamps, this really comes off as a "Let them Eat Cake" moment.

How did that work out for her again?

/----/ Rent a hall????? Seriously???? The White House is completely secure. And it's not one penny of taxpayer money, unlike the $1,000,000 per use tent. GEEEZE. Give it up already.

No political group wastes more money than Progressive Socialist Communists. You are acting like our federal budget is one tenth the size it is. And you are the architects of it huge size and you want it much larger. Ridiculous structures are many in our nation today. The modern looking ones and modern art especially. Look at Obama's library in Chicago. And of course, when finished it will cost at least few times more than it should. When it comes to the White House, it is a shame it does not have more acreage. They may also have the option eventually to expand the West Wing in size for the modern era also while preserving the oval office.

Technically poverty was supposed to end after the humongous war started in the mid 1960's. And there are people on food stamps, etc. that are purchasing cakes with their money and eating it.

He will give it up when the fax machine in the basement says to give it up, not before.
