It's not the whole story though. The VC were afraid of the B-52s, but as the song says, "they're still there, he's all gone". Just being the toughest SOB on the block, isn't enough. You've got to get the people to fight for their own freedom. We didn't do that well enough in Viet Nam and Bush hadn't learned the lesson when invading Iraq.
Amen to dat, Moon...you on board? We know what they really want.........thermonuclear payload delivery...
Lets get medieval on their ass.Amen to dat, Moon...you on board? We know what they really want.........thermonuclear payload delivery...

If you're that far out of the loop, read a few news articles and then come back and post. Give us a break! It's not like you're a noob.

In other words ----you don't know. Gotcha.

Once again you're not very quick on the uptake, you didn't "get" anything. You asked a dumb question and in keeping with your lack of sophistication, don't seem to recognize sarcasm when you see it, Sheldon.

Well I get that this quote was a joke---- I don't think arming the Yazidis is going to help much.

Are the Yazidis the only group? That's why say you're not very quick. Grabbing low hanging fruit and pretending one group represents everyone is just intellectual laziness and I don't have time for it.
This isn't 50 years ago, carpet bombing against a dispersed target like ISIS would be silly. An F-15E with four 2000lb JDAMs will do more damage to ISIS logistics, HQ, etc. than a B-52 carpet bombing with 80 500lb dumb bombs.Surgical Air Strikes will not do the job.
