Support the Uber strike on Valentines Day

Tommy Tainant
Some workers have always been their own worst enemy, we see that with some posters on here who don't actually think workers deserve any rights, they are either not workers or as thick as Elephant shit.

Good old zero hours contract, Capitalism at it's worst same as hire and fire, these bastards would turn the clock back to the 19th century if they could get away with it, problem is some of the workers are complicit in their own conditions being attacked, they have always been there the miners strike brought that scum to the surface.
/----/ Deadbrain, that word salad makes no sense even by your low standards.

Deadbrain, which posters said that? In seven years on USMB, I have never read any poster, Left or Right make that claim.

If you support hire and fire and zero hours contracts that speaks for itself, a few years ago P&O a ferry company i had used many times over the years sacked all it's workers by text and offered them new contracts at far worse conditions, some of those workers had worked for the company for thirty years and were treated like trash, i never used that company again, i used to get the ferry from Hull to Rotterdam just a two hour drive from my home, any other trips to the Netherlands i made were from Harwich in the South of England.

What the hell does that even mean?

I explained what it means in my post, don't you understand it?
\/---/ Well, hells bells, next time, Deadbrain, try telling the whole story. This company merged with and acquired other companies since 1960 and ended up in the hands of a Dubi company. Of course, along the way, one of the new companies with a mixed bag of employees and would need to have new contracts. What part of that confuses you?
And, the ferry business had outlived it's usefulness and couldn't compete with new low cost airlines.

"In September 2004, P&O Ferries Ltd conducted a business review that concluded with the announcement of closure of several of its long-term Portsmouth-based routes, leaving only the Portsmouth – Bilbao route in operation. These closures were predominantly blamed on the expansion of low-cost airlines and the increasing usage of the Channel Tunnel as a faster alternative to ferry operations.[4]

/---/ Hey Tommy, and fake outrage on the Trudeau $30 billion taxes on Canadians?

So you are a fan of zero hours contracts? i take it you are not on one.
It doesn't matter if I am a "fan" of them or not. This was the arrangement they took. These are essentially set up to be hobby jobs more so than a serious full-time employment situation. Employers should not be required to pay them for baby sitting their own children, sleeping or sitting around watching TV just because the workers decide they want to claim they are available 24/7 but are under no obligation to do a single trip.

I personally would never want to do this type of arrangement and I certainly wouldn't trust working for an employer who set themselves up to skirt taxi medallion regulations to begin with as far as the ride shares. I purposefully don't use any of the apps as I can drive myself, buy my own groceries, and pick up my own take-out if they don't offer delivery otherwise. I do not, however, feel any sympathy for the workers who are trying to game the system. They should get a proper job.

I think there is an ingrained attitude in the US wherby whats good for the boss is goof for everyone. Its victorian servility on steroids.
It really is a masterpiece of conservative brainwashing. They whine about jobs being exported but are generally supine.
Look at the passive approach of public service unions to the culls.
I think the thatcher imported the lesson to the UK but Im not sure we are that bad yet.

Indeed Thatcher imported that toxic ideology and yet many of the herd bought into it even though it damaged them, there is no accounting for the capacity of the herd for down right stupidity.

Try paying a mortgage or making any plans a week in advance on those rules, or even getting a mortgage lenders won't give a mortgage to someone who can't show what wage they will earn from one week to another.

Amateurs. I Uber strike every day.

In the US, perhaps with Bidenomic's reign of error being over, Americans can afford to buy cars again. MAGA
It's just that pesky mass layoffs and inflation and rising gas prices that get in the way of that idea, nice try though.

I think he means what he says, that the majority in the United States have been indoctrinated (by republicans and democrats alike) to unquestioningly accept the thesis that private capitalism ultimately benefits everyone.

You need only look at the disparity that's grown between the capitalist class and the middle class since the 1950s to see the evidence that you've been lied to.

Try paying a mortgage or making any plans a week in advance on those rules, or even getting a mortgage lenders won't give a mortgage to someone who can't show what wage they will earn from one week to another.

Then get a real job for grown ups that requires you to actually work 8 hours a day five days a week in exchange for that set amount of income if you want a mortgage.

/—-/ Deadbrain is offended at the insult of getting a job.
