I suspect there is a "surcharge" on ticket prices because it is Vegas, most major cities have high taxes on everything tourism related, this probably bleeds in, the additional taxes on Chicago hotel rooms immediately comes to mind. But it is getting ridiculous for working class people to attend the big game, it seems to be reserved as a playground for the rich these days. Many people probably wouldn't want to go anyway, but some of these stadiums (Raiders, Rams, Vikings, Atlanta, etc) are worth the cost of admission for a regular season game, just to experience a game there.

Fans thinking of going to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl should prepare for a case of sticker shock if they haven’t already purchased tickets.

Prices for the Feb. 11 game are the most expensive on record. Just getting inside Allegiant Stadium to see the Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers will cost around $8,000 for a single ticket, which is 25 percent more expensive than the $5,997 “get-in” price of the Super Bowl this time last year, according to data from TickPick, an online ticket marketplace.

The average purchase price of Super Bowl tickets listed on TickPick is $9,804 – 69 percent more expensive than last season’s championship, which saw an average price of $5,795. Data from StubHub indicates the average price of tickets sold on its marketplace is $9,300, though StubHub buyers will incur a fulfillment and service fee that was in the low thousands as of Wednesday.

StubHub’s data shows buyers from California account for 26 percent of all tickets sold. Nevada is next at 8 percent, followed by Kansas/Missouri at 7 percent.

The fact that Sin City is playing host to the largest football game in the country for the first time is a big factor driving demand, but scarcity is also playing a part, TickPick vice president of growth Matt Ferrel said. Allegiant Stadium has 65,000 seats, which ranks 27th among the 32 NFL stadiums by capacity.

“It’s the first Super Bowl in what’s newly kind of being established as the domestic sports capital with F1, the Raiders now being there and teams moving to Las Vegas. And Las Vegas ultimately being a fairly compelling destination for any large-scale event. When you’re talking about the Super Bowl, it’s one of the largest-scale events,” Ferrel said.

The Chiefs and Niners have a history of garnering high ticket prices, as the previous most expensive Super Bowl on record was in 2020 when the two teams faced off in Miami. The average purchase price of that was $6,370, per TickPick.

Too expensive to attend the Super Bowl just like it's too expensive to attend a Taylor Swift concert. Screw 'em both I'll watch it on free streaming.

It cost money to see "SHake it off".

Or is this just a shake down?

Well that didn’t take long. I was wondering how long it would be for Taylors name to get mentioned

How many hamburgers can a ticket buy?

And what's the gratification gained with each?

Real Fans who have been following their teams for decades can’t afford to go to these games.
The Taylor Swift crowd and corporate elite have no problems.

Your “Bidenomics” in action.

The elite/rich elevate while the middle class misses out/suffers

I have a friend who is a cop and will be working the game right down on the field. Unless he has to break some wasted white girl fights, he basically gets to stand there on the sidelines and watch the game for free.

I have a newsflash for you. The Superbowl has been primarily a corporate event for the last 25 years or so.
It's not a game for the average fan to attend because it isn't an affordable package for the average Joe.
Watch on TV, sure. See the commercials, buy the products, crowd the restaurants and bars in the city that the game is being held.

Has nothing to do with whatever party's president happens to be in the White House.

What else is new. Up 300% in the last 10 years.

$8,000 is more than Hombre and I spend on groceries and necessary household supplies in an entire year and we have to budget fairly carefully in order to spend that much on necessities. I'm going to spend that to see a football game? No.

Talk about a prime assignment, probably all the other cops wanted that gig, unless it is more of a pain in the ass than I would know (possible too).

The greedy NFL wants to make the SB pay per view.... turn the greedy rich boys in pajamas off...

Not surprised at the increase. Its the old "supply and demand" law from Econ 101.

The demand for tickets has to be higher than usual, since Vegas has more hotel rooms for out of towners than almost anyone.

And the supply is down, as the casino industry is distributing a large number of tickets to High Rollers. Those factors make a sharp increase a foregone conclusion.
