Colleges that keep jacking up tuition, while helpfully showing students how to apply for more and more student loan debt, should be required by law to set aside a significant percent of that to provide vocational training to student loan graduates who realize they just spent five years and racked up more debt that the average yearly salary of people with their major, who actually find a job.

It won't take long for them to realize that they have no marketable skill, so the college can pay for them to go to welding school, HVAC training, Plumbing apprenticeships, or Truck Masters Driving Academy.

Nah.
Just make the college the only lender to students.
If the college does their job, the student graduates, gets a great job and repays the loan.
If the college screws up, the student fails to graduate or graduates with a useless degree,
the college eats the loss.

If Colleges started accepting part of the risk of student loans that go south, they'd be less willing to push massive debt on their Polka and Poetry alumni.

The days of paying introductory wages are over. Thankfully. Hold employers accountable.

What does this have to do with scholarships?
Scholarships are typically given for some sort of merit. Even a scholarship specifically for Cheokee transwomen who are left handed lesbians would select the most meritorious member of that narrow demographic.

Pell Grant and student loan goes to all who sign up with neediness and willingness to ask as the only criteria. Like participation trophies just for signing up.

Ok, but if a student receives an athletic or academic scholarship, there is no expectation of "paying it back."

Yes, Unkotare, yes.

Let me guess: You’re they guy who hears a funny joke about what a bear says to a hunter, and after everyone else laughs, you say, “wait, bears can’t talk, though.”

Well they can't, right?
