"Rolling Thunder In A Gentle Land" was the last book I read about it.

Ultimate conclusion was that Westmoreland was not up to the task.

LBJ appointing him over Abrams was a big mistake.

Outside of the technical conduct of the war, most modern views are that LBJ should never have ramped up.

But it was the second time in a row that the CIA screwed up. First time was Cuba.

So LBJ came to bail the CIA out and take over.

LBJ probably should have done what Clinton did and bail out like from Somalia.

You win a few (WW1, WW2), you lose a few (Vietnam, Somalia), and a few are rained out (Korea).

Kiwis in 'Nam

Few know that New Zealand and Australia had support troops in Vietnam. So, I just posted a brief excerpt about flying in a Kiwi Caribou into a gut-wrenching landing and takeoff. Check it out at my blog @ A Soldier's Stories
