Just caught a few minutes of her speaking at the Jan. 6th hearings. She was calm, clear, and without any exaggerations laid out the conspiratorial political plans of Donald Trump to maintain himself in power after losing the election. Impressive.

I didn’t expect this much from a daughter of Dick Cheney, a Republican with such a consistently conservative record. But it shows that in this matter at least there are still some Republicans “with balls” — folks who have some idea of what real Constitutional and Conservative ideas and values are supposed to be all about.

I’m not closely following the hearings. Pity that so few Republicans were willing to be a part of the committee. The hearings won’t do much more, I suspect, than put on the record some documents and communications that may later give historians a more accurate record of who did and said what … as Trump tried and failed to hold unto power despite losing the official, authentic and state-certified electoral vote.

This now ever more bitter and aggrieved narcissistic lunatic, and the faction of grifters and nutters whom he leads, must not win election in 2024.

Nobody in Wyoming cared at the time. Cheney spent his lifetime doing community services, rescuing people in winter storms, seeing to it after one really bad winter in which half the state's ranchers lost 70-100% of their livestock due to inclement deep snows higher than most people's roofs, pulled some strings and got their lost herds were completely restocked, and made them proud when he was chosen to run for Vice President with W. in a state that barely had 500,000 as its total population. There isn't a smaller populated state in the union to this day than Wyoming. So expectations are a little different in a state where 5 cars in any given downtown area might be considered a traffic jam. You'll never get it, and I forgive that. I really, really do. I love that state I spent 35 of my adult years in. And don't get me started on the late, great Malcolm Wallop, Queen Elizabeth's cousin and former Wyoming U. S. Senator, because he saved the lives of my best friend's brother by using his private airplane to fly him to a big city hospital like the one in Casper, Wyoming that had the best staff of any hospital called the Mayo clinic. Just because a city had a population of under 50,000, doesn't make it totally barstool rednecks when the Symphony Orchestra has members who escaped the best philharmonics on the eastern coast of this nation to bring excellence to a small town.
