I thought you would all like to know I'm watching a show called Cheap Ass Beach Houses. All the episodes so far have been Florida but I'm watching one now from Orange Beach Alabama. Looks nice.

Most of the shows are places with ocean view or access to water at least. Around $400K to $600K. Not too bad. Condos mostly for that price but there are some houses NEAR the beach.

All the condos in Orange Beach were $550,000 or $525,000. Not bad. But just as expensive as Florida. I was hoping Alabama would be cheaper.

Cotton Bayou is where they decided to buy. Know it?

I'm not familiar with Cotton Bayou.
Orange Beach is really nice and some areas have gated communities with fill time security guarding huge multi-million dollar homes.
There is a lot of upscale stores and restaurants plus water parks and family entertainment.

What sucks is there is no cheap state in the south on the water where you can move. I remember years ago you could buy a lot of acres in TN on a lake or on the Tennessee river. Cheap land. That doesn't exist anymore.

Even in MI. There is no cheap land up north. Maybe there is still in the UP but not lower Michigan.

I love AI

The cheapest land per acre in the U.S. is typically found in remote, rural areas of states like Arizona, New Mexico, Mississippi, Michigan, and Wyoming, where you can find parcels for as little as a few hundred dollars ($200-$1,000) per acre, especially desert or forested plots far from cities, with Arizona (Cochise, Mohave counties) and parts of Wyoming offering some of the lowest prices. Prices vary greatly by infrastructure, access, and local demand, but these states consistently offer some of the nation's lowest-cost rural land.
The cheapest land per acre in Michigan is generally found in the remote, northern counties, especially the Upper Peninsula (U.P.), with prices potentially as low as $500-$1,000/acre for large, undeveloped parcels
