The use of Emergency Powers seems to have a lower threshold of late barring some real evidence of a broad infiltration within their government.

All of this seems rather odd and anti-democratic.

Some kind of a political coup is happening in South Korea today. I hope that doesn't effect price of Kimchee Walmart sells. I kinda like that stuff.

South Korean president declares martial law over threat from ‘anti-state forces’

"Yoon Suk Yeol says in late-night address that opposition parties have taken parliamentary process hostage"

"South Korea’s president, Yoon Suk Yeol, has declared martial law in an unannounced late-night televised address, claiming he would eradicate “shameless pro-North Korean anti-state forces”.

He did not cite any specific threat from the nuclear-armed North, instead focusing on his domestic political opponents.

The surprise move sent shock waves through the country, which had a series of authoritarian leaders early in its history but has been considered democratic since the 1980s. The Korean won was down sharply against the US dollar.

Yoon said he had no choice but to resort to such a measure in order to safeguard free and constitutional order, claiming opposition parties had taken hostage of the parliamentary process to throw the country into a crisis."

This doesn't look good to me. It looks more like a political dispute than an actual national security issue.

Till the late 1980s South Korea was a dictatorship. It's time to return to the old good days.

Martial Law is not the way to safeguard free and constitutional order

No, trying to disqualify your political opponents like done in the US, Venezuela and Brazil is the right way, correct RW?

It is when Commies try to take over the government. Trump should have done that when the left started rioting in 2020.

But then, he's not a fascist, is he?

The South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol is considered to be conservative and economically liberal, He ran on a platform promising economic deregulation and measures such as abolishing the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family. He narrowly defeated Democratic Party nominee Lee Jae-myung on 9 March 2022 and assumed office as president on 10 May. So I would guess this is a case of South Korean pro-North Korean leftists trying to take over a government building.

Poor Marty, always so desperately trying to justify the statism that he adores.

In every case, liberals defend liberty, making liberals the good guys.

In every case, conservatives push for statism, making conservatives the bad guys.

More evidence? JGalt. He's very vocal about wanting to send liberals to TheCamps. He just did it again. And no conservative has a problem with that. He just says out loud what they all want.
