It's simply about setting boundaries and following through.

You just had a young woman murdered who the system would not punish or detain.

The CJ system is not about rehabilitation. That is a huge discussion.

But it is very civil to say that if you committ first degree murder, you die. And then follow through.

How do you know? Can’t prove a negative. Increase or reduction in murder can be a result of too many other factors.
One thing for certain is the executed perp will in fact no longer to able to kill again. That is a definite deterrence in his case.
