US Moves to Register All Drones
December 14, 2015 - New regulation aims to promote safety and to link owners with their aircraft, Federal Aviation Administration says
After numerous reported incidents with unsafely operated small drones, the U.S. government has decided to link all unmanned aircraft with their owners through mandatory registration. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which regulates all air traffic within the United States, announced Monday that as of December 31 all drones will have to be registered and will have to bear their license numbers.

Students at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks remotely pilot a drone during a demonstration, June 24, 2014. The Federal Aviation Administration now requires drone registration.

In introducing the new regulation, the FAA's deputy administrator, Michael Whitaker, said the aim was to educate drone owners about safety and responsibility as well as to connect the aircraft with their owners. Registration will cost $5 for all private and commercial unmanned aircraft weighing from 250 grams to 25 kilograms, including onboard cameras. One registration number, available for purchase online, will cover multiple drones owned by the same person or entity and will be valid for three years.

The $5 fee will be returned to all who register within the first 30 days after the rule takes effect. All drones purchased and operated before December 31 will have to be registered before February 19. As of that date, the drones will have to be registered before their first flight. The age limit for registration is 13 years, while younger owners will have to register their aircraft through their parents.

So now the far left is outsourcing the programming of their loyal religious drones to Sony!

Maybe they can do a better job of programming than the Canadians that are currently programming them..

Hope their not spending a whole bunch of money on it, the FAA just announced that all drones must be registered like other aircraft. How many people will go to that expense?

Edit: Thanks Waltky that's the first time I've seen a price associated with the registration. I still think many parents will balk on the registrations.

5 bucks? you think they will balk at that or just the idea of registration? estimates of over a million sold this holiday.....and i have seen them for a little as 40 bucks ....7 minute flying time is just enough to peep....

i am not sure how i will react when the kid next door gets one....and we know he will....he is a good kid and most likely will let everyone know ....he does like his home made explosives lol and get this.....none of us find that odd or something that needs to be reported....just his way...grumpy refers to him like this 'he owes a atv, a dirt bike and street bike and not one fucking muffler'

5 bucks ...should be more....someone has to input all that data
